Good Sleeping Pad

Just got this and took it on it's inaugural trip on a backpack into the Grand Canyon. It packed up fairly light and small for the treck. It seems really sturdy - no obvious chambers or seams to burst. I have only used it once, but I get the feeling it will not have leaking problems anytime soon. Slept one night on a nice sandy beach by the Colorado River, the next on what was basically rock face. Both nights this side sleeper zonked out no problems. It felt warm and kept the cold from the ground out. It was also very quiet - no crinkles or noise when I tossed and turned around on it, nice for whoever you're sharing a tent with.

I will say it is less thick/cushy to sleep on, while larger/bulkier packed than the Exped SynMat UL7 my traveling companion used. But I did not sleep a full night on the exped so I can't fully compare. I have also slept on the But Agnes Insulated Q-Core, which is also thicker/cushier seeming, but the same size packed, and the shape/size of the therm-a-rest fit my body better (the Big A seemed narrow.)

I bought this pad to replace by BA Insulated Air Core cause I was tired of taking 10 minutes blowing the thing up. Not to mention after 3 leaks I had had enough. I bought this and have been in love with it. It's super warm and if I blow it up a lot, I won't feel the ground while side sleeping. It also is really quick to pack up but not quite as fast as a Z-lite, but for the extra comfort, I'll take it. Since I'm small (5'6") I went with the female version cause it had a higher R-value and was cheaper than the male version. I can live with the floral pattern for higher warm/weight ratio. Really happy with it.

Not just for women. Sorry ladies

I don't care what the description says or my backpacker/camper friends say about this pad being for a woman, it works for this guy. After borrowing my wife's Pro-lite Plus one time when she didn't come along and I was tired of my 3/4 pad not keeping my feet or shoulders ( which ever body part wasn't on the pad )warm I was sold on this pad. You women got it right with this pad so now I have my own and love it. The R-value is great for cold Montana weather which can happen even in July and the extra thick pad makes sleeping on your side a real comfort. Thanks for women and their need for warmth and comfort.

Great night sleep

I slept really well on this pad. I'm a very sensitive sleeper(my hips bruise easily) so I went ahead and bought a cheapy blue foam sleeping pad to go under this. On a canoe trip you can afford the extra bulk of it. I will try it without the blue pad next time on a backpacking trip. It is wide enough and the non slip fabric on top helps you not slide off in the middle of the night. I also liked how light and small the sleeping pad was once tucked into it's stuff sack. I recommend folding and rolling it up the way it originally comes. So easy to pack up!

Great balance of weight & comfort

This provides enough cushion that I sleep well when camping. I find that the extra half inch (versus the ProLite, for example) makes a huge difference in comfort without adding too much weight.

I've had this pad for several years and many camping and backpacking adventures, and it has yet to spring a leak!

The recommended sleeve for this pad makes you fold it in half length-wise and then roll it, so it can't be strapped to the bottom of my pack. I got the sleeve for a different Thermarest, and it fits inside with room to spare - usually the tent poles go in with it.

Warm, comfortable, and compact

Super warm and comfortable mattress. If you are a side sleeper for sure go with this one rather than the standard Prolite. I've used mine a ton and seems to be super durable. Works with the Thermarest chair kit too.

great for a side sleeper.

This strikes a great balance between weight and comfort for a side sleeper. The R value is excellent and it isn't noisy if you toss and turn. I slept warm and well padded in 30 degree desert nights.

Great with Trekker chair

A dual purpose comfort system when used with the Trekker chair: Comfortable to sleep on and great as a pad in the Trekker Chair. One weight and two uses to add comfort to the back country experience.
Theostrat at Rock/Creek Outfitters on 02/02/2012

ohhhhhhh yeaaaa

Used this camping a couple times so far and its awesome. Surprisingly warm, easy to use and comfortable. Might be warm enough for 4 season but have not tried it yet

A good "backpacking" choice

Found myself sleeping on the ground after the pad slipped out from under my sleeping bag.

Some sort of non-slip coating might be useful.

Returned

So I was bought this as a gift because I need a new sleeping pad so I tried it out and it was seriously one of the most uncomfortable things I have ever laid on. I think it would be fine if you only had to use it for a few days but I needed a pad to last me for a year so this one had to be returned.
