"Nice light pad for a low cost."

Rating:****
You pretty much get what you expect with this pad. It's small, lightweight, and rolls up nicely. It's not the most comfortable pad in the world, but for those who want to save weight instead of carrying around a three pound sleeping pad, this is what to buy. I use it for backpacking and have had no complaints as of yet.

"Good price and comfortable"

Rating:****
I really like this pad. It's softer and thicker than I thought it would be. I have the large version. It's definitely too much. EVen for a tall guy. It's like extra wide. I would go with the regular size if I could do it again. I would def. recommend this.

"Didn't wriggle around once"

Rating:*****
I bought this on the fly, a while back. I put it under a borrowed sleeping bag in a tent and enjoyed a good nights sleep. I've just recently bought the thermarest prolite 4 and am ready to feel what that's like. AWESOME BAD BUTTS!

"nice and light with plenty of padding"

Rating:****
I'm 5'6 and have the short pad. my feet hangs off about a foot or 2 expected. i haven't tried it out on a trip yet but have tried it on the floor of my house and it provieds plenty of padding.

"Don't go backcountry without one"

Rating:*****
These are great! We have two of them and have used them on snow and in the desert. Very versatile and can be used for many situations. The closed cell foam is very water resistant and lightweight.

"Good for backpacking!"

Rating:****
This pad works well for backpack camping. It is lightweight and fairly comfortable, however if you are looking for a nice comfortable pad for just car camping, I would not recommend this pad.

"Comfortable and light"

Rating:****
I got the short version and love it so far. the only downside is that it is a little bulky when rolled, but still very lightweight!
Kelly at Moosejaw on 04/27/2008

"Decent for the price."

Rating:****
Pros: Very very light. Cheap. Durable. Cons: Could be comfier. Large.
Christopher at Moosejaw on 03/23/2009

Negative Reviews:

"Not for backpacking."

Rating:**
Totally huge. Imagine three watermelons placed side to side. That is the size of the pad rolled up. Unpackable. This pad would be great if size were not a factor. I exchanged mine for a more compact solution.

Neutral Reviews:

"Good for the price, but leaves a little to be desired for comfort"

Rating:***
I slept on this every night for 2 months for the first 900 miles of the A.T. They are nice because they are lightweight and virtually indestructible. You don't have to worry about sticks or rocks poking holes or them getting wet. However, they are bulky and must be put on the outside of your bag for the most part (unless you have a 70+ liter bag, which means you're crazy and need to find a new hobby). They also are not very comfortable compared to other therm-a-rest pads. I would have to rotate my body ten times a night in the shelters on this thing. But, for the price how much can you ask for. Also, most people won't sleep on it every night for 60 days...

"The Best for the money"

Rating:***
I bought this product when I was running low on funds after buying a new pack and sleeping bag. It's not the softest thing I've ever slept on but it gets the job done. It helped me retain a great deal of body heat and I slept very well. My osprey pack has perfect loops to attach my pad to so size wasn't a problem at all. You can't even tell it's there from the weight standpoint. I highly recommend this pack to anyone that can't spend a lot of money.
Cole at Moosejaw on 02/25/2009

"25% heavier"

Rating:***
So I have small already that I have been using for 5 years now. The Ridgerest is bombproof and light. I got the large because I wanted a second pad for when I take other people hiking. I got the regular because some people prefer a little more comfort and don't mind the extra weight.
