Thule 2 bike, hitch mount bike rack

Rating:*****

I have only used it once so far but like most Thule products, it is made of quality materials and built solidly. I thought it was very easy to assemble and install. It holds 2 mountain bikes nicely away from the back of my Denali and swings away easily for access to the back of the SUV without removing the rack or bikes (although Thule recommends that you remove the bikes before lowering the rack). The rubber tabs held the bikes securely and the tie strap kept the bike wheels straight on the rack. All in all, a good value for a high quality product.

Good for the price

It is a nice rack and does the job of holding two bikes like it says. I have been having problems with the clips at the top sliding back in forth while driving with the bikes on it (I fixed it buy using rubber bands as gaskets to stop the movement). If you have a small bike, like my wife has, it will be a tight fit on the rack. I find that the zip stick is very useful in keeping the bikes from swaying around. Bottom line is it works good for the price but there are better ones out there.

Thule Parkway Hitch Bike Carrier - 2 Bike

Rating:*****

Pros - Good price, excellent functionality, easy to assemble, bikes ride well, excellent overall design

Con - Discovered that the Thule Zip Stick 2 that is recommended was an unnecessary purchase for me

my bike has never fallen off

works fine. mine has a sleeve to fit both hitch receivers though. bikes stay on the rack and the securing strap deals are pretty nice (and replaceable). bikes bounce around and swing a lot but i have never seen a hitch mount that doesnt - and yes, i use the zip stick.
i prefer the bikes on the roof or in the back of a truck. i guess if youre a baller and drive a hummer or escalade or similar, a roof rack wont work for you so this is a good option.

it works

So far works for me 2 weeks. I had no problem w/using it. Few extra rubber bands will help to prevent rattling and sliding along bars. I would recommend to get a long secure cable and a separate weather resistant lock w/dial code for it. IMHO auxilary pin-lock that thule suggests will be trashed by road dirt and you won;'t be able to stick the key in.
