What an awesome rack!

Rating:*****
I would rate this bike rack as my best purchase of the year 2007.
It is very quick and easy to install.
The quick releases work extremely well. I just leave the rack on my station wagon most of the time, taking it only off if I have to put very bulky items into the trunk. So now I can just throw my bike on the car on short notice, without any hassle - which led to a 300% increase in the amount of exercise I get ;-) I take the bike along for lunchbreak rides pretty much on every day now when I don't have the time to do the full commute by bike.
I had a rack before that didn't fold down, and I very quickly learned that this is a feature that you simply can't live without (unless your garage is huge), so I returned it after a week of having to take the rack off the car every evening and got the Ridgeline instead.
I have not transported 4 bikes on it yet, but have loaded it up with 3 bikes regularly. I could imagine 4 bikes being a bit of a hassle to figure out how to arrange them without handlebar conflicts. But the 3 always worked out well. I have used the rack with one bike on it on long drives, which included both interstate and bumpy dirt road use, and had no trouble whatsoever with the bike coming loose. I even had the car parked with the bike on the rack during near-Tornado-level winds, and found absolutely no evidence of the bike having banged against the rack or the car.
So, in summary: Love it, couldn't imagine life without it anymore!

Exceeds my expectations!

Rating:*****
I debated for quite some time between the Thule Ridgeline and Yakima Flipside, ultimately selected the Thule based on recommendations from several friends and numerous online reviews and comparisons. This is my first hitch mount rack and I could not be more satisfied. Out of the box we assembled this product in less than 20 minutes. As a five foot five inch female I easily take this hitch rack on and off my 4Runner. Our first trip was a 5 hour drive on the interstate and into the mountains with 4 mountain bikes. It was somewhat challenging to load the 4th bike and we were not able to use the "no sway" attachment on the last bike. However, all bikes were very secure and rode great, even through wind and rain storm on the drive home. We didn't even notice they were there.
I would highly recommend spending a couple extra dollars for the Thule Ridgeline versus the Roadway. The "no sway" cages are very easy to snap on and off and provide great extra stability. Also, the integrated locking cable and hitch lock are very convenient and I'm completely confident parking my car anywhere and leaving my bike loaded. The price may seem spendy, but I wish I would have purchased this hitch rack a long time ago. I highly recommend the Thule Ridgeline.

Nothing better than this rack

Rating:*****
This rack is everything I wanted and more. I have had it now for four months and can't find anything bad about it. I like the locking feature to the hitch which allows me to leave it on the car at all times with no worry. It also allows you to lock the bike to the rack so you can stop and eat at the end of a long day of riding with no worry about your bikes. The tilt down feature of either the arms or the whole rack to get into the back of the vehicle if also A+. I have had three bikes on this rack as of this post and been on the highway doing 75MPH and their was no problem or worry with the bikes. Another thing that is nice is the anti-sway strap goes through the bottom of the rack and how it holds the bike in place with no movement. When I was looking at racks I looked at a lot of other brands but this one seemed the best built for the price and I figured if I was buying good bikes I wanted them on good rack.

Good rack, but...

Rating:****
This, for the most part, has been a great and solid rack for me, with one exception. I have a Range Rover and the lower quick release lever comes within a few millimeters of my bumper. It turns out, there is enough play in the connection to the hitch to allow the quick release to come into contact with the bumper. I noticed this once and didn't realize the rack had been pushed in too far. As I was accelerating to get onto a freeway, I went over a bump and the quick release came up (probably rubbed against the bumper when the rack bounced), causing the rack to drop down. There was significant, although not costly, damage to all of the bikes as well as the rack.

If you get this rack and find that the release lever is close to your bumper, make sure it has enough clearance so that it doesn't rub. This isn't something that requires a lot of attention, just be aware that it can happen. It would be nice if the rack had some sort of safety mechanism to prevent this kind failure.

Perfect

Rating:*****

The Thule Ridgeline is the perfect bike carrier for me. It is very solidly made and thoughtfully designed with every feature in the bike rack world. It slid right into the hitch receiver on my 2008 Prius and locked solidly in place - no rattles. I can open the rear hatch without folding down the vertical member and the horizontal folding bars allow me to park in the garage with plenty of spare room. My wife likes not lifting bikes over her head to mount them on a rooftop carrier. The bike lock and receiver lock are easy to use and out of the way when not in use. Plus, I have not seen any decrease in gas mileage on the Prius since mounting the rack. I have yet to find anything I don't like about the Ridgeline rack. Highly recommended!

Nice Rack

Rating:****

Pros:
* Solid construction
* Excellent strapping options
* Easily holds 4 bikes
* Minimal bike sway
* Quick-release levers allow for easy fold-up and trunk access
* Built in cable lock
* Hitch lock

Cons:
* Stinger extends out pretty far
* Only one bolt/pin hole on the stinger. A 2nd bolt/pin hole would allow for the stinger to be inserted deeper into the hitch receiver.
* Cable for lock could have been heavier gage
* Although the stinger can be locked to the hitch receiver, the upper portion of the rack is only bolted to the stinger. The upper half of the rack (including any attached bikes) can be stolen with a wrench.
* Couldn't mount woman's bike frame without frame adaptor (which I was told it could)

Better than expected

Rating:*****
We bought this instead of several less-expensive models based on reviews here, and we're glad we did -- this is a stellar product that's easy to install, easy to use, stable, and secure. The quick-release levers (for access to rear of vehicle and for collapsing arms) are simple to operate and require minimal strength. It takes just a few minutes to mount several bikes, and we didn't need any adapters, even with three bikes of different sizes with different tube angles. The no-sway attachments work exceptionally well -- I haven't seen a rack with less front-to-back (of the car) sway. The hitch lock means you can leave the rack on your car without as much worry that someone will steal it. Highly recommended.

Just what I wanted

Rating:*****
This rack is exactly what I wanted. Easy to take on/off my vehicle, which I do a couple times a week. The hitch and bike lock are really handy and make me feel secure, especially in downtown Chicago. The sway bars are a nice addition too, but if you go with a cheaper version of the Ridgeline you can buy these seperate [$]. I've only had it a few months, but I know this is sturdy enough to be around for many, many years. Oh yes, and easily converted from small to large hitch. Great because we have a pick-up and a small SUV!

One SICK rack!

Rating:*****

This Thule rack is so sweet! I have a Mazda 3 hatchback and the quick release feature is so wonderful to have. The integrated security cord and hitch lock are huge bonuses. The anti-sway cages make a night and day difference and keep the bikes solid. This is definitely one perfect rack. Get it and I promise you'll be happy for many many years. I got the 4-bike rack and use the 1.25" receiver - everything fits perfect and feels secure.

Good but not perfect

Easy to install and use. But...

(1) The built-in bike lock broke after just 2 uses
(2) One of the bolts (the main one that keeps it connected to the trailer hitch) keeps working its way loose over time
(3) Should be built with aluminum rather than steel -- it's absurdly heavy.
