Thule Speedway Bike Mount

Travel > Car RacksRated: ***** by 9 reviews.

Load up your rig, and toss your bikes on the back at the last minute. Thule's Speedway Bike Rack quickly attaches with nylon straps to the trunk of most cars. Available in two and three bike versions, the Speedway is a super-stable and cost-effective way to cart your bikes around. Roof racks are expensive, and if you're not using them all the time, they're more trouble than they're worth. The Speedway folds down with the snap of a few buttons and stows in your garage or trunk. Thule's no-sway cage prevents the bikes from scratching each other, while padding protects your car from damage. Plus, it's easy to fit on friends' cars when you can get someone else to drive.

Shockingly satisfied.

Rating:*****

Just got this rack for a birthday present and loved it. I used it for the second time last weekend when some friends and I took our bikes on a road trip. We got in an ugly rollover accident and were shocked to find very little damage to our bikes. At some point in the accident the rack came off of the car, but all 3 bikes remained secured to the rack. Unfortunately the rack didn't completely survive, but it held up much better than I would have expected in such an ugly crash. I was so satisfied that I plan to replace it with the same rack.
The rack feels really secure when the straps are all tightened. I also love the no-sway cages that snap on and hold each bike on tight. Before getting this rack I borrowed a similar rack from a friend and was horrified when my bike came loose and almost ended up on the freeway. The detachable cages really prevent that. I've been very impressed with this rack.

Easy and Stable.

Rating:****

I've used this bike rack around town and on the interstate. It's performed fantastically on several trans-state trips, and hasn't deteriorated at all in the 8 months that I've had it. There's plenty of room for 2 bikes, and the rubber straps keep the bike on nice and safe. It's not as easy to take on and off, so I just keep mine on all the time. It stays much more sturdily than other bike racks that are easier to put on, though, so it's a trade-off. Definitely worth it for me. I recommend it.

Great Bike Rack

Rating:****

Great bike rack. Took us a while to figure out how to put the 2 bikes on so they fit most efficiently (one men's one women's style). No complaints with the product, only thing is, the box it came in had a small hole so we lost one of the lug-nuts...which is an important piece.
I'd recommend the product to anyone w/ a hatchback vehicle, though.
Happy biking : )

GREAT DEAL, GOOD TRAVEL

Rating:*****

It's my first bike rack, so I have no comparison for ya but it worked. Pretty easy to set up and take down. Mounting was good for my Specialized hard tail. A bit tricker for my Gary Fisher F4 full suspension, but it works. I like the extra security of the sure fit feature for interstate travel. If you don't need/want to invest in a roof rack this works!

Nice Rack!!

Rating:****

This is a great rack. I used it moderately but decided that a hitch rack was what I really wanted. The rack would be 5 star if there weren't better options than a trunk-mounted rack out there. The overall quality of the rack is great, though and it is definitely a great choice if someone wants a trunk rack.

all around great

Rating:*****

This rack is simple, solid, durable, + easy to install.

When I say easy to install, I mean it. Open the arm up to the required setting for your vehicle, clip onto the vehicle, + tighten the straps.

Bikes stay in place, doesnt damage the vehicle, + you are off riding in seconds.

Thule Speedway Bike

Rating:*****

The Thule Speedway is a great quality rack, for much cheaper than the traditional roof rack. The anti-sway cages really keep the bikes stable, so I feel much more comfortable with them on the back, on the freeway.
