Good Shoe, Good Price

Rating:*****
I have been wearing Timberland Classic Lugs for more than 25 years, and I bought my most recent pair from Altrec as a birthday gift for my college-age son. The design is as comfortable as a house shoe, but it supplies good ankle and arch support that would make it suitable for light hiking. If you pronate like I do, eventually the lugs will wear catty-wompus, and you will want a new pair. The uppers are sturdy enough to outlast the lugs, so you make find yourself with a closet full of healthy, aging Timberlands after a while. All in all, an excellent shoe, and a good bargain from Altrec.

Sole is a little too thick. It's a boot sole on a fairly light top. Be better if sole were about half the thickness. May change my mind in the winter time where it would make an excellent inclement weather shoe.
