Timbuk2 Wingman Duffel

This is really the perfect carry on bag! Initially I wasn't sold on this bag in terms of style, on the Timbuk2 website I saw this bag in other colors that were kind of ugly so I was happy to see it here in black. I decided about 48 hours before I was taking a long weekend trip that I didn't really have a good bag to carry on and that I should buy a new one, thank goodness for Zappos amazing shipping! I figured with the price of checking a bag these days being around $25, this bag pays for itself quickly. I was able to pack a lot of stuff in this bag! I went away for 3 days and I packed sneakers, large dslr camera, 2 pairs of pants, 6 shirts, 2 sweatshirts, 2 books, toiletries, a hair dryer and a hair straightener in this bag and there was still room for all of my souvenirs on the way home. I also did that thing where you don't fold anything on your way home and everything still fit fine! It is the perfect size to smush in the overhead bins (a bit too large to put by your feet in my opinion). The backpack straps are incredibly convenient, but I did find that everything in my bag slouched down to the bottom while I was wearing it on my back. It wasn't uncomfortable but it did look a bit silly. I think if I had used the straps to hold the clothes in and put my heavy stuff on the bottom this wouldn't have been a problem. The handles are perfectly placed so that you can always conveniently grab this bag. I brought it to work before I left and also took the subway to work then the subway & bus to the train and this is a very easy bag to carry around, I'm petite (5'2") so while it was large it was way more manageable than a rolling suitcase. My 3 friends who I traveled with that weekend all eventually bought this bag also because they liked it so much and were able to see how awesome it was while I was using it. I highly recommend this bag!

Best travel item purchase ever! This is ergonomically well-designed. The straps are curved and well-padded. I use this as my carry-on -- to hold laptop, notebooks, medications, electronics, cosmetic case, and one change of clothes & shoes. It is so easy to wear and run through the airports and up & down stairs in Europe. Also very efficient at security checkpoints. I love how it zips open like a suitcase -- can quickly pull out laptop, tablet, Kindle, medications, The Bag of Three, all weather raincoat. Everything irreplaceable is on my back (+ large tote for tickets, travel comfort, small purse). I have now used this for six journeys. There are no failures of construction and it is still beyond comfortable -- and good exercise! I smile when I pull this out of the closet for each trip. Unsurpassed in design, comfort, durability. Love the black/charcoal!

Picked this out primarily for the form factor, wanting something similar to the maximum-carry-on-size duffel bag that I had been using, but a little flatter, like a suitcase. It fills that role nicely, and although I've only taken it on one trip so far, I lived out of it for a week and had no issues. The pockets are perfect, the construction appears to be quite durable, and the hide-away backpack straps are, surprisingly, almost as comfortable as the ones on my trusty old Jansport. It looks like the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

Most fantastic carry-on ever -- makes a wonderful lightweight backpack -- or can sling over shoulder like a messenger bag. Extremely well made and constructed. One can whiz through crowds and down narrow aisles with this and a large tote. Could live out of it for a week -- but I also often check a bag -- because women have to have costumes for each meeting. This bag I will cherish until it falls apart -- which could be 25 years! The best - five stars.

Great product! Was worried it wouldn't hold enough for business travel but I can easily pack two suits and some workout or casual clothes as well. Well constructed. Fits in the overheads of the small regional jets - no more gate checks. Lightweight. Really prefer it over a roller board - so much easier to navigate the airport.
