As loud as a freight train!
I was tempted to buy the Fox40 whistle that most people like, but I liked the flat design on this whistle. I took a chance and bought it and we have a winner. This thing is just as loud as the Fox40. You literally have to plug your ears when you blow hard on this thing...otherwise your ears will ring for a couple hours. Trust me...
Like I mentioned, it's flat, it's light, and the little lanyard at the end is equally strong. I soaked it in my kitchen sink, took it out, shook it a couple times and blew on it and it still screamed like a champ. Save a few bucks and get this guy instead of some of the other over-priced whistles.

This thing is LOUD!
I lost my little plastic whistle that I bring to Italy with me to scare away the many pickpockets who operate on buses and in crowds. As soon as they see a whistle, they run because the last thing they want is to bring attention to themselves. This whistle is so loud it will make them get real jobs instead of preying on unsuspecting tourists! Great for hiking in the woods, too.

Wow- you really need to plug your ears when you use this whistle or you wont be able to hear anything except the ringing in your ears! This is exactly the emergency whistle that is essential to a safe trip. I got one for my husband and one for me.
good 'just-in-case' item
a good tool to have, though hopefully you never need to use it for the intended purpose...I would recommend leaving one in your car, and one (or two) in your day/overnight pack

Unfortunately I have't had an opportunity to give this real try outdoors yet, but know it's clear and loud. It's lightweight and would be very easy to carry anywhere.

Hey - it's a whistle - it works as intended; *but* it doesn't seem as loud as my Storm Whistle, or my spouse's Fox 40, so I gave it a "meh" (3 stars).
