Van Staal Spinning Reels With Bail -
With the introduction of its first bailed spinning reel, anglers now have a choice when it comes to taking advantage of Van Staal's superior construction and performance - bail, or no bail. Fully machined from high-grade aluminum and titanium, and sealed waterproof-tight, Van Staal's new bailed spinning reels have the same hard-fighting features found on nonbailed models. Equipped with a skirted spool, these bailed models have an oversized rotor clutch that offers the strongest anti-reverse available. The large power handle knob is easy to grip, and the oversized stainless steel main gear has more cranking power than any other reel in its class. The titanium bail has exceptional spring tension to securely hold it open for surf casting. Manual bail closing. Includes bail.
Colors: Black, Gold, Silver.

Features:

  • Sealed and water-tight
  • Maintenance-free drag system
  • Unyielding strength for tough saltwater fish
  • Expertly crafted from high-grade titanium and steel

Van Staal Spinning Reels With Bail Reviews:

Positive Reviews:

Most durable spin reel out there.

The is a solid and pretty much indestructible reel. It's got a flawless drag and you can drop it, bang it around or whatever. Sure it isn't the smoothest reel, but it definately is the most durable. I've been using the 150B on small to medium bluefin, false albacore and other pelagics. The only real we've ever used that I haven't had to send back to get rebuilt after one season. If you are looking for a reel that you will likely have for the rest of your life, this is it.

Only spinning reel to have

This is our 6th VanStaal reel and as far as we are concerned the only reel to have--trouble free for tarpon to sheepshead!

Negative Reviews:

Not What I Expected

I own 4 Van Staal VS series reels so I had to purchase the new VSB-150 and was disappointed. The reel has gained a lot of weight it has some kind of black shim under the bail / rotor assembly and is not balanced very well on the retrieve. I don't know why they made a manual bail model that is so much heavier when the no bail system is what made them stand apart and nearly indestructible. I will continue to use the original but if I want another bailed model I think I and possibly others will be looking at other brands, especially if they are willing to buy a reel in this price range. If it ain't broke don't fix it.

VSB (with bail)

I returned the one I ordered. Although I have used and appreciate the quality of the VS model. the VSB is a disappointment. The bail is unbalanced enough to be uncomfortable to use in high speed retrieve.
