The Volkl Katana alpine skis are built for the fluffly deep. Every aspect of these skis is designed to make every powder day the best day ever. The wide shape and supple wood core are built to float, and the 2 sheets of titanium ensure that this ski has the stability and power for the most aggressive riders. Volkls Powder Channel gives the Katana a swallowtail-like feel, without depriving you of switch skiing capabilities. The slightly rockered shape adds to the fun by allowing you to side-slip and smear at speed.
The Volkl Katana Alpine Ski gives expert skiers the power, flotation, and performance to slay the steepest powder lines on the planet. The Powder Channel Tail offers many of the advantages of a swallowtail ski (flotation and a powerful, centered stance) while still allowing you to land switch and power through variable conditions. Combine this with no camber, a slight rocker, and a huge platform, and you have a ski that will redefine how you ski the pow. Volkl gave this big-mountain powder specialist two sheets of titanium laminated to a full length wood core so the Katana satiates the most hard-charging rider out there.

The Katana features a top-end wood core and vertical sidewall construction, with two sheets of titanium. Although it has a 111 mm waist, the most unique feature on the Katana is the Powder Channel. The Powder Channel allows us to provide the ride quality of a swallow-tail design while still allowing the skier to ride switch. The Katana comes with a slight rocker for easy smearing in powder. Other details include the Völkl logo edge anchors and honeycomb sidewall graphics with custom printing.

The Katana features a top-end, wood core and vertical sidewall construction, with two sheets of titanium. A 111mm waist gives you float, while the beefy construction gives it great handling on harder snow. For good skiers who want a deep powder ski that they can use on the groomed from time to time.
Volkl Katana Skis 2010: The Katana features a top-end wood core and vertical sidewall construction, with two sheets of titanium for added strength. The Katana comes with a slight rocker for easy smearing in the pow but still maintains its traditional all-mountain feel. Perhaps the most versatile super-fat ski on the market

Big Mtn versatility | |

This ski blows my mind! For the off piste shredder looking to buy one ski this season that does it all, this really is the fat-rockered ski you want! I've been impressed with the way the Katana holds and carves fluidly on ice and windpack, and completely rally's in Powder. This ski is on the stiff side, so although you can finesse it, there are times where it demands aggressiveness. The slightly rockered shape of this new Katana has been a sweet improvement over past Volkl Katana's... which I thought, was as good as it gets!

Katana Rips! | |

The Volkl Katana is my go to ski for 09-10' season. Stiff enough to handle the crud and fat enough to slay the deep, this ski simply rips. This was my weapon of choice for the 2009 World Heli Challenge. I took home victory in BigMt and DH on these boards, with a nice 8th place in freeride. Its got a twin tip for deep switch landings, and awesome shape for arching big turns.

top ski for me | |

Great ski. It truly rips on any snow conditions. I bought the Katanas thinking I would use them only in powder but was completely blown back by how good they performed on hard pack and ice. They have since been bumped up to my every day ski.
