Volkl Kenja Ski – Women’s: Award winning skis have become synonymous with Volkl; with the all-mountain Kenja Ski receiving such honors as: Skiing Magazine – Official Selection, 2012; Skiing Magazing – Tester’s Choice, 2012; Ski Magazine – Gold Medal; Gear Guide ’12 Peaks – Epic Choice. That is quite the laundry list compiled for the Kenja. Its Bio-Logic Geometry is outfitted with full camber and is laced with Power Construction for superior grip, stability, and pop. Developed to charge on and off piste, the Kenja Skis consume every inch of skiable area. Best suited for advanced to expert women skiers who want to ride a 50/50 blend of groomed or soft snow conditions, the Kenja (meaning: wise person) is sure to become your go-to all mountain freeride ski.

Fabric:

  • Directional twin-tip construction excels when skiing forward and gives you the option of riding switch if you need

Weather and Wind:

  • The Völkl Kenja skis really excel on groomed runs, but they will hold their own when steered off-piste into soft snow and powder
  • Dimension-3 sidecut results in an elongated sidecut shape that, when engaged, contacts the snow evenly for an exceptionally smooth ride

Traction and Grip:

  • Vertical sidewalls provide excellent grip, stability and sensitivity

Features:

  • 2 titanium sheets increase torsional resistance without adding cumbersome weight
  • Base or topsheet color may vary from online photo
  • Wide, stiff tips and narrow, soft tails enhance the natural motions of female skiers, ease turn initiation and conserve energy
  • Women-specific wood core uses lightweight and structurally sound balsa wood along with poplar, creating a core that's lighter and more flexible than comparable unisex skis
  • Stiff flex zone in front adds stability, and medium flex underfoot offers a smooth transition to the soft tail that aids in turning on groomers and maneuvering in pow
  • Powered by Titanium
  • Full Camber

Women shredders looking for the ultimate in frontside/backside versatility, look no further! The Kenja delivers easy turn initiation on hard snow and more maneuverability in soft snow with tip rocker, which also gives this ski excellent stability at high speeds. The 86 mm waist gives the Kenja enough width to rock the powder but is also narrow enough to shred on the groomers. Overall a great women's all mountain freeskiing tool.

Volkl Kenja Skis Reviews:

Reviews:

Fun and forgiving!

The bottom line is that these are great ice grippers. They float in the powder and cut through the chop!

I really needed a ski upgrade after a period too embarrassing to mention. I also bought these based on the reviews and availability at REI. I could not be more pleased with the purchase. I just spent six days skiing these in every condition imaginable. WOW! Great job Volkl! Very light weight and versatile, you won't be disappointed. I also purchased the marker bindings from REI.

The skis are wide but they are very responsive on short radius turns and in the bumps. They gave much much better flotation through powder and choppy snow than my thinner skis. I was impressed with them in the steeps and on the ice. All around excellent stability. A true all mountain ski.

This was my first time skiing "woman's skis" as opposed to expert men's or unisex skis. I think these are far better for my weight (115). I purchased shorter than what I normally ski as well (163). Fun and forgiving for the expert skier! Great value at REI. I love these skis!

I love my Kenja's !!!!!

I bought my Kenja's this winter based on online reviews. I was again amazed how much difference gear makes. I came from Atomic Supercross, not bad but nothing special either. Skiing in Zermatt, the runs are often steep and icy, but with my Kenja's I felt more save and stable than ever. They really added one or two levels to my skiing abilities, just by feeling secure and by saving me energy. Also skiing in bad sight was hardly a problem any more. I was just floating on the snow. Only going really fast straight downhill was a little tricky, I really had to keep my weight on the front of my ski's and felt them shaking under me. But that was a tiny con with ski's that really ad to having a great skiing trip, at least 6-8 hours a day !!!

Skis that put a smile on my face

I absolutely love these skis, they put a smile on my face in all conditions. In hardpack groomers and ice they grip like none other, no worry about being able to carve, they carve everything easily. They're floaty and fun in powder as well! They're also very stable at speed which makes them very fun when you want to fly down the mountain. The only complaint I have with them is that their topsheets do scratch easily, but it doesn't affect performance so at the end of the day who cares? Most of the time I'm skiing the topsheets are covered in snow and you can't see them easily anyway. An awesome product for any advanced woman looking for an all mountain ski. I have the marker squire bindings on mine.

fabulous ski

I ski 2-3 times per week. I have demo'd several 'all mountain 'skis this year including Salomon "Lady" and Volkl "ara". These skis are by far the best of the 'all mountain' bunch. Extremely smooth, will not catch edges, easy to turn, floats through chop and powder while still holding solid edges on groomed runs. Hyper light.

Dreamboat skis

I agree w/DurangoDoc's review. I've demo'ed some skis this winter to decide which to buy. Volkl Kenja is it. They respond delightfully and effortlessly, from first clean run of the day to the end of choppy, icy day and I'm tired & sloppy. Pretty to look at while on lifts, too. ;)

Sweeeet....!

I demo'ed Kenja and a couple other skis to help select a pair to buy, and kept coming back to these. There was little/no powder to speak of this year (2011/2012), but what little I found was fun with the Kenjas. Can't wait for 2012/2013!
