Jury's still Out, but Great for Petites

Rating:****
I ordered 4 for layering under sweaters at work actually, and found they came in 2 distinctly different fabrics. The pink and periwinkle come in a soft fabric -both of which I've worn already and loved- and ivory and navy in a coarser fabric with a texture. The colors are great-and the fit is nice and snug which is rare for me to find because I'm petite and hate bulk under sweaters...But after 1 wash it looks like the nice soft fabric pilled a bit already, and the shoulder stitching is coming undone on one of them! I have to see how things go over another wash cycle or two-and will try the coarser fabric ones shortly... I do not dislike them enough to return them since they are great for layering! Will recommend with that caveat! Oh! The necks are shorter than I'm used to and don't allow enough fabric to fold over -so I wear them up and they fit fine that way!

I would buy this product again and again

Rating:*****
Can't say anything bad about this product! Bought it to ware under my wool sweater, (color matches great with my sweaters' color's); for shopping, shoveling snow and just staying warm in our freezing cold house. We keep the thermostat low to save on energy cost. Seemed a little tight at first, but after wearing it it for a few minutes, it loosened up a bit. Not too much to still fit correctly as a wicking base layer should fit, plus it's not binding or restricting at all! Snug, but not too tight, around the neck. Just enough to keep the cold winter winds out. Sleeves perfect fit, as do the wrist. I'm not one who likes to layer three or four garments just to stay warm,(which is way to binding for me). This is the perfect answer to fit my needs. All I need is this turtle neck and my wool sweater and I'm good to go out into the snow!

Works for the Price!

Rating:****
I am 5'5", 135 lbs. The Medium was a good fit for me, although as many have noted, the sleeves are a bit short. The sleeves are only an inch or so short, not a drastic annoyance. This is a great price, great color, and it washes well. I did not dry my shirt, because I was worried it would shrink. I wear my shirt to stadium games as an extra layer, and it keeps me warm. Buy two for yourself! However, I would not give this as a gift, size is definitely "seconds quality".

Good enough

Rating:****
This turtleneck suits its purpose: to be a good base/wicking layer. It is not stylish and it is thin, so I wouldn't wear it by itself, and it could be a little longer in the torso...but it is a good buy and does a good job wicking. I have run in it several times in very cold weather, and even though I am sweating, the turtleneck is dry when I take it off.

Sleeves shorter than the crew neck style

Rating:****
I ordered a medium in both the Turtle neck and the crew neck. I like the fabric, but the T-neck sleeves were several inches shorter than the crew neck version. I have long arms for my size, so the T-neck would probably work well for women with average length arms and shoulders for their size. The crew neck has perfect arm length for me, even a little length to spare.

Second time around--great!

Rating:****
Bought one a few years ago with the neck opening too tight to wear and returned it. Very reluctantly ordered again this year; the neck opening is still very tight but the shirt itself is a good fit. This is a superb layering shirt for cool/cold weather and is also quite good looking. It's a tight fit, but that's what you'd want in wicking underwear..

Just what I needed

Rating:****
I always layer in the winter and needed a high-neck to wear under a wool sweater, that would look good enough to wear alone, and yet be functional. This is soft with just the right amount of stretch and very nicely warm, not sweaty warm. It is the perfect layering garment.

Nice and Warm

Rating:****
I checked the sizing chart before purchasing two of these and ordered accordingly. They run a little smaller than indicated there. Not enough for me to return them, just a bit to where I might have liked the next size up a little better in sleeve length and body length.

Super Sweats

Rating:****
I love this "shirt". It's comfortable to wear, definitely "wicks" away perspiration, and is warm to the feel. I wore it non-stop during miserably cold/wet weather in the East. I would buy this product again and again.

it works

Rating:****
good for layering, but it does run small- i ordered a large and i typically wear a medium. also, sleeves ~just~ fit me and i am a shorty, so tall people pass this one up.

Negative Reviews:

Lighter colors are too thin

Rating:*
I ordered the white and natural in this T-neck and they are both made of very light fabric that is see-through. More like light weight than medium weight. It might be OK for very light layering but you can't wear them without something over them. Maybe other colors are better but unless you don't plan on ever wearing these alone, don't order these lighter colors. They also have shorter than normal in length sleeves (as noted by other reviewers) and are short in the torso. Not a great buy at all.

Too thin

Rating:**
I wasn't happy with the fact that you couldn't wear this alone, I wanted to use for skiing and be able to take my jacket off in the lodge with this turtleneck on, but it was totally see-through. If that doesn't matter to you, then it will probably be a good layering item

Scratchy

Rating:*
I have purchased wicking turtlenecks from Sierra in the past with satisfaction. Soft, comfortable. This was such a strange UNSOFT fabric I cant even imagine putting it on when the weather is cold and feeling that it would do what it is supposed to do.
The postman at Sierra Trading Post on 12/07/2009

Adequate, definately not great.

Rating:**
This didn't cost much and is an adequate base layer. The fabric is not very comfortable and the inside clings like velcro to everything, making getting dressed a challenge. It is warm and moisture wicking so does what it is supposed to.

Wickers T-Neck not sized like Crew

Rating:**
Bought this Wickers product after having great success with the Wickers Crew necks of the same weight. However, the T-Neck is super small at the comprable size. Arm and body length way too short.
iliketobike at Sierra Trading Post on 01/24/2010

Shrunk up

Rating:*
This was a big disappointment as it shrunk up so bad that it is 2 sizes smaller. I read and followed the wash directions. Don't waste your money!

A Shrinker

Rating:*
1st time disapointed with wickers turtlenecks. Not what I was used to getting from them. Poor quality and they shrink after 1st wash

Short waisted

Really disapointed with this product. Not used to getting ill-fitting and shrinking turtlenecks from Sierra Trading Post

Caution!

Rating:*
Poor quality, shrinks after washing, not for regular use if you need a good turtleneck
Dusty at Sierra Trading Post on 02/21/2010

Odd fabric

Rating:**
layering, not for top layer as snags very easily (came with a few)

Fits Kinda Weird

Rating:***
I ordered two of these, as I like to exercise outdoors in the Chicago winter. I usually wear a small, but I ordered a Medium based on other reviews. Glad I did. The length is short, as well as the sleeves, but since I'm layering it's not too bad. But the seams where the sleeve meets the shoulder is tight and digs a little. It's fine for what I use it for, but I don't think I'd order it again.

Sleeves are short, but shirt is ok

Rating:***
I bought the shirt for skiing and it is great as far as wicking and keeping me warm. However, I am a tall woman and have long arms. For me the sleeves are about 3 inches shorter than I would like. It was a good buy for the money and since it is my base layer I am able to make it work.
Black Diamonds Rock at Sierra Trading Post on 02/14/2010

sleeves aren't long enough !

Rating:***
I purchased two of these and am happy except that the fit is a bit snugger than i'd like; AND the long sleeves are much too short for me. I am tall but very slender so i find it difficult to find long sleeve shirts like these to fit properly. Would highly recommend to shorter friends ! Very comfortable fabric ...
hawkinlady at Sierra Trading Post on 02/03/2010

nice fabric

Rating:***
This was a great shirt, but beware if you have a long torso. The shirt seems to be a bit short. I ordered my usual shirt size and just feel like the shirt fits as though it had been shrunk.
valgal at Sierra Trading Post on 02/16/2010

Not what I expected

Rating:***
I did not understand that this turtleneck is an under garment, so I was disappointed with the fabric and the fit. It was a bit tight all around and the fabric was unattractive, snaggy, and unappealing.
Draper Lady at Sierra Trading Post on 02/25/2010

Great if you have short arms.

Rating:***
The sleeves were way too short for my long arms. It fit fine everywhere else and would be a great layering piece if the sleeves weren't so uncomfortable. Sadly, had to return the shirt.

Comfortable, but not very warm

Rating:***
I use this under sweaters & sweatshirts when working outdoors. I don't feel that they are any warmer than a regular cotton turtleneck, but they are comfortable and soft.

Comfy, but order one size up

Pink T-neck was a different fabric than the blue, lighter weight and more mesh-like.
