Yakima's SKS Accessory Lock Housing attaches to the SnapArounds that secure your BasketCase, boat attachments or any other Yakima accessory to your crossbars. This will prevent thieves from running off with your rack accessories. Use the same SKS lock cores and key that you use to secure your bikes and boats to your rack.

Yakima's Accessory Lock Housing is used to lock rack accessories to a vehicle's crossbar. Instead of a hex key, Yakima uses the Accessory Lock Housing to secure a bolt to a certain component, such as a wheeltray and SNAR or fairing and bracket.
The Yakima Accessory Lock Housing allows you to lock down any part of your Yakima roof rack that doesnt have a space for a lock core. The Lock Housing attaches to the bolts on the BasketCase, bike racks, boat racks, and anything else you want to secure.

Add the Yakima Accessory Lock Housing and even non-locking rack mounts can enjoy full locking security and protection for your gear.

Now you can secure "non-locking" Yakima accessories and gear mounts to your rack!
Even non-locking mounts can enjoy SKS security with the SKS Lock Housing by Yakima.

Does the job right. | |

| It's exactly what the description says. Instead of just using the twist handle to tighten down your bike rack onto your Yakima crossbars, you use this and it allows you to lock it as well. It's great for providing that extra layer of security. It's solid, well built and does exactly what it's designed to do. The only con about it is that it's expensive for what it is. Not only that, but it doesn't come with an actual Yakima SKS lock core, meaning if you don't have one you have to purchase one. That's something else to think about before purchasing this. Fortunately I had a spare lock core that was lying around so I didn't have to pay extra for it. | |

"Great product to lock accessories to your Yakima rack"

| These extra locks are great for locking some of your accessories to your Yakima rack/the car that usually don't come with locks for example, the fairing or such. As with all Yakima products, they are easy to install. Keep in mind, though, that these are only the housings, the locks need to be ordered separately. | |

"Why risk losing your stuff?"

| All my old Thule and Yakima mounts were made so that once the item was secured the mounts were safe from theives. As things got more complex mounts required an external lock. If you want to keep your stuff yours then these lock housings are the only way to go! | |

"You gotta have lots of these"

| If you care about your bike racks, you'll need these. Why do you ask? Because if you don't have anything in the rack, all it takes to remove a vyper or other such bike mount is a lift of a lever and an unscrewing of a big plastic wing-nut. | |

The lock housings are a little pricey on top of the piece of equipment being purchased, but it's worth it in my opinion for peace of mind. Not having to worry whether or not your equipment is going to be stolen is worth it in my opinion.

"Feel secure, get these!"

| Feel more secure with these accessory locks. Remember that you will need to get some lock cores to use this product. The installation is really easy, it only consists of a nut, a rubber ring and the lock housing. I've locked down all my rack components! | |

Like others have said, it's pricey at $12 a pop, but for securing your even pricier racks/gear, it gives you peace of mind. I bought mine on here with a 20% discount, or else I would have probably gotten them off eBay.
