A great alternative to kayak saddles! The J-cradle design works with any kayak, supporting it on its side, which is generally stiffer than the bottom.

The Yakima Hullraiser Aero with Bow Stern Tie Down is a great choice if you're looking for boat security, ease of loading and compatibility with aerodynamic factory crossbars.

| Simple, space-saving rack, especially if you need to fit other items on the rack at the same time. I'm using it with a Skybox 12 and they both fit fine on my 48" bars. Straps are adjustable and of high quality. Straps include vinyl tubing sections to protect your bumper from strap chafing. If you aren't careful when you load your boat, the carriers can spin or catch and get tangled in the kayak seat or other innards. This is a hazard to some degree for most, perhaps all, J-style carriers. Good value for the price, but if you are loading by yourself, get the Yakima Boatloader extension bar (Thule has a model for its racks, too). My kayak is fairly large: 62 lb, 13.5 ft tandem version. I couldn't load this by myself without the Boatloader accessory. Believe me, I've tried! Cuts loading time from hours to minutes and almost eliminates frustrated expletives. | |

Best I've used | |

| I’ve used a few different types of kayak holders and have found these to be the best. Unless you’re hauling a large tandem then I would go with saddles. With saddles I always feel the need for front tie downs for added stabilization. With these I usually don’t bother as they hold the kayak securely. For longer trips I use front and rear tie downs as an added safety measure. These hold the kayak securely. They don’t mark the gel coat and are quick to load. The straps that are included are great. Never had a problem with them. Just bought a second set of these. | |

| Makes carrying kayaks a WHOLE LOT EASIER!! If you are carrying more than one kayak you will want the hullraisers facing the same directions. We first put them on facing opposite directions. It worked fine for the first kayak but we ran into a problem when trying to strap down the second kayak. We could not reach the middle to wrap the strap through the hullraiser and around the kayak. All it took was a SIMPLE switch in directions and we quickly fixed that problem. | |

Works very well | |

| I've driven hundreds of miles on Florida interstates and back roads with the HullRaiser and its works great. It's best for use on a car if you're paddling by yourself however, since getting the kayak up high enough at an angle that it will rest evenly on a SUV or truck is a challenge. It works so well on my Accord that I bought two so I can store the boats and my Thule Space Shuttle on my cross bars all at the same time. | |

| Hullraisers are fairly easy to attach to the rack but will not lay flat on the roof so i end up putting it on and taking it off every time i use the kayaks. I bought two sets for each of my two kayaks and its great for space on top. Also I am only 5 feet tall and its is pretty easy to load with someone else to help. | |

Solid and priced well | |

| These cradles hold kayaks of any length securely and allows plenty of extra space on top of the car for more boats or other items. It can be difficult for one person to load a heavier boat on these cradles, but with another person helping, it loads very easily and can be strapped down quickly. | |

"When it comes down to getting your kayak from the driveway to the water, this product gets it done." | |

| All I can say is thank goodness the foam blocks are replaced by the hullraiser. My kayak is now securely fastened to the roof for good! Only complaint I have is it can be a bit tough to loop the straps over if you have a taller vehicle. Not the product's fault, however. | |

| they dont tighten enough on the round bars and tend to fall over if you dont have a kayak in the rack, but when the kayak is up they keep it rele secure | |
