Clips for my Saturn | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
My only frustration with these clips, was that (unlike 90% of Saturn parts), replacing my car with one 8 years newer, required changing the Q clips at all!

I have an 05 legacy gt and for those that have the subie with the no frame above the window might wonder how the q clips grab onto the car. Usually the clips hold on to the metal of the actual frame of the car. I was a little skeptical about how these grab onto the plastic ledge just above the window. I can now say after a season of use that these things won't damage the plastic and can hold quite a bit of force from the rack. P.S. you don't need to grip stickers it comes with if you have my setup

Q-Clip differences | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
Yakima racks are great except for their cost, especially for the little items like the Q-clips. $30 for two small pieces of metal. From what I can tell the only difference in the various clip model numbers is the location of the identical holes. With the amount of adjustment available in the towers themselves I think that a person could make up for the location of the hole with the tower adjustment and not have to buy new clips when moving a rack from one car to another.

I just posted a review and had the wrong number - Q124 works for both front and back of the Prius, not the 5's as suggested by Yakima. I think the original specifications for the Prius were the 124's and somewhere along the way they changed it to the Q5, which didn't seem to quite fit. In any case the clips work!

Q-clip review | |

So far, the Yakima system I put together from 3 different suppliers has worked just fine. I bought most components from this site as was pleased with the price. The system is fairly easy to setup and feels sturdy enough to not worry about putting my new Cannondale on. I certainly would purchase this whole setup again.

yakima rack clips | |

I've got a stack of car racks in the shed and then bought a yakima for an old Mercedes I owned, hated to buy another rack so looked for replacement clips to go on my Volvo. They work great. Took five minutes to switch them over. Cheers, Ship

Sturdy rack system | |

| Install was easy until the Q Tower clamps needed to be set. I had to recruit another set of hands to clamp both sides of the rack simultaneously. Otherwise the mounts moved out of place when clamped individually. Fits well on my '09 Honda Civic LX. | |

Get your right size | |

Get your right size for your car and it will do the job. Never had a single problem with my roof rack. Don't skimp and buy some old ones or ones that aren't designed for your car. It could be bad news

| I placed these on my F 350 to haul my kayaks home. Fantastic... they worked like a charm. I was pleased that they worked so easily. | |

Q Clips- | |

I called Yakima directly before I bought these clips. The people that answer questions at Yakima don't even seem to understand there own products! I was told by a Yakima rep this would work with 1a rain gutter towers. They do not work with the rain gutter clips. However backcountry was awsome!! They let me return the items with out any problems at all!

Works OK | |

Worked like a charm - so far no problems. Had some initial trouble figuring out how the heck these things were going to secure the rack to the roof of my vehicle as they didn't seem to grab on as I would expect. Turns out they make the rack "clamp" on to the roof sort of like a vise. Some better instructions explaining this would have helped. Only thing I don't agree with is the price. Way too expensive for 2 small pieces of metal in my opinion, plus you need 2 pair!

Good fit | |

| These fit well, but the rubber feet don't last long if you leave your car parked under the sun for extended periods of time. My first set lasted 3-4 years, plus when the rubber started to deteriorate it left marks on my car finish. | |
