The Yakima(r) Raptor upright mount bike rack holds your bike firmly with adjustable locking jaws and a triangulated arm. It fits 1 to 3-in downtubes of any shape and protects the bike's finish with non-marring, padded jaws.
This description was also provided by: FogDog Sports, Dick's Sporting Goods
The Yakima Raptor Upright Bike Mount is a triangulated arm that grips your downtube firmly in its talon, but it doesn't scratch your paint. The Raptor is safe on your bike because the padded locking jaws treat your bike far more gently than its aggressive name implies. The Raptor is compatible with factory crossbars when you add Mighty Mounts (Sold separately), and also fits round and square crossbars equally as well.

| This is my first roof top rack experience. Had no choice with my little hatch back, and trying to carry three bikes. Quite frankly I chose this mount because it was cheaper than the others (most of them), and allowed me to keep the front wheel on. I was very pleased with the fit and finish. Yakima does, indeed, make quality products. The only concern I have, and this was seen in reviews prior to my purchase, is the bike does not seem as stable as I would like. However, I am pleased overall and I've never felt like the bike was going to fall off the car. I just take it easy on some turns. | |

| Got these so I can take kids on bike rides. But certainly sturdy enough with a bike loaded to be useful for daily use. The only down side is that the bike clamping bar is "loose" on the rack when no bike is installed. Very minor issue. Otherwise, it takes 85 mph in stride, and we also experieced very strong side winds while a storm rolled in. No problems with a mountain bike loaded. | |
