My other car is a bicycle

Rating:*****

For someone who has never taken her ski rack off the top of her car (not sure why, just never have), I needed to find another way to transport my bike (and my friends' bikes) on my car. My car doesn't have a hitch so this was the only type of rack I looked into (remember, my roof has my ski rack on it year round).

The rack is absolutely stable with 3 bikes on it. The farthest I've traveled with the rack full is somewhere around 6 hours...in a mix of traffic, driving 75 mph on highways and neighborhood stop-and-go...and the bikes were all in perfect condition when we got to our destination. The only problem bike-wise is that you get a lot of road dirt kicked up on the drivetrain, but that's going to happen with any rear mounting bike rack.

The set up for the rack is so easy it's amazing. Once you get the arms set correctly (which takes maybe 30 seconds) you're ready to throw the bikes on there and tighten up the straps. What I love, too, is how easily it can be moved and adjusted to fit my friends' cars. My only complaint (and it's a small one) is that one of the straps on either side scrapes a little bit on my car, but honestly, the rack makes it so I can get myself, my friends and our rides where we want to be and I couldn't have asked for more.

I'd definitely recommend this to anyone looking into rear mounting bike racks.

Great Overall carrier for any car.

Rating:*****
I was originally looking at a Thule rack when my wife up and ordered this one. Therefore, I could'nt help but be a bit skeptical as I opened the box. My skepticism, though, changed to enthusiasm as I inspected the rack's solid construction and ample rubber fasteners.Getting it on the car (an 03 Focus Hatchback) was no more difficult than any other rack. The first try took about 15 minutes. After that it was a five minute job.Once on the car it was firmly attached and very stable. It didn't budge. As for the bikes, they did not budge, either. At highway speeds there was no vibration, no shaking, and no unusual noise. After several trips with the rack and several mountings and unmountings there was no sign of damage or wear either on the bikes or the car.Using the Yakima is a good experience. "Interesting Experience with this product"

Rating:****
Long story short......bikes loaded on rear of car, driving on interstate, bike falls off rear of car, bike stolen off highway in the time it took for us to turn around to pick it up. Moral of story....called Yakima, complained about bike falling off on highway, mailed rack back to service department, Yakima ran tests to see if bike was loaded incorrectly or rack defective, check for total price of bike in my mailbox a few weeks later. Guess the bike rack was defective. But their customer service was fabulous. And now I use the replacement rack they sent me and have had no problems with it! All bikes have stayed in their place on the rear of car.

Decent for one

Rating:****
I use this as often as possible.. i must say having just one bike on the rack is very sturdy, going 100+mph on the highways still didnt move a bit at all... the straps are pretty easy to use, the mount itself where the bike sits is adjustable also... one down fall is mounting 2 or 3 more bikes it become unstable.. you can see it in the rear view mirror that it sways left to right but just know the fact that you can tighten the mains straps.. but over all its good!!

Great Rack for the Money

Rating:****
I bought this rack to use with kids bikes, I ended up needing to purchase a crossbar to make them fit.
It's a bit complicated to put on the car, a lot of steps, so I don't end up using it much.
It is sturdy and holds the bikes on well. I would recommend it as a good alternative to a roof rack that is considerably more expensive.

"Great Rack for the buck!"

Rating:****
Does it's job like its supposed to, although holding three adult male bikes was a bit much for this guy but normally it will be carrying my girlfriends bikes so its perfect for her...It was a little tricky installing and getting the bikes to fit the first time but heck, I guess thats what the directions are for so I suggest you read them like we didn't!

Bomber- I love it

Rating:*****

I've put three bikes on this rack, and it was super stable. I like that it has foldable arms, an easy click open and they bend down and click into a locked position when a bike's not on it-- a cool function for a hatch based rack. A bomber rack- the best in it's price range. Easy to take off in the winter.

very fine bike rack

Rating:****

I used the bike rack to take my bike into the mountains, and it fits perfectly and keeps the bike stable. Excellent price from this site. I'd like the pads to be somewhat larger, but they don't leave significant marks so I'm pleased with it.

Sturdy and strong

Rating:*****
I leave the rack on my car the majority of the time, doesn't rust, sturdy, and I feel confident that my bike isn't going to fall off.

Negative Reviews:

not so great

Rating:*
We bought this when we got our son a bike (we previously had a 2 bike saris). The yakima was billed as an "upgrade"- other than having space for the third bike, the saris was better. The Yakima is not stable at all- if you go over railroad tracks or bumps in the road, it becomes unstable, and we constantly have to stop and readjust the straps which is very frustrating.

"Pass on this one"

Rating:**
I am not really a fan of the super joe. It seems to always come loose and waggle around. This is disconcerting when you are watching your carbon fiber ride wave around in your rear view mirror. I wound up getting rid of it and getting a saris bones. It stays tight and doesn't rough up the trunk lid the way the joe does with its foam pads.
