Great product I have two!
I purchased a Quantum Escalade HD 40 In June and another one today. The reel is great. The retrieve is smooth and the bail engages very easily. What I like best is that this reel does not put twists in my mono line nearly as quickly as my other reels - I don't know why and I don't care why. I am comparing this reel to my Pfluger Presidential and my Shamino Saraha, both of which are supposed to be good reels. Give me the Quantum any day.

i love the real its a very strong and druable but the no sweat protection plan sucks original purchase got one extra spool (2 total) but then when i had to replace it i only got one spool and still had to pay an additional 11 dollars to get the reel... last time i will ever get a reel from dicks.

This is a great reel! I dont know what all the other negative reviews were all about but I have been fishing for over 25 years and this is one of the smoothest reels I own. You can not get a better reel then this for the money hands down.

When I bought the first one, the plastic piece at the back of the frame was broken . When I got reel replaced, the same piece of plastic broke off completely the first day I used it. It still works but not well - the bail doesn't close completely when you flip it by hand and doesn't close at all when you start reeling. This is the first product review I've ever written but was incredibly disappointed in this reel. [$] wasted.
5 star reel if you keep it from breaking
Thought the reel was great, until a cheap plastic part holding the internal bail spring broke. The review titled "Junk" describes exactly the current condition of my reel. Quantum's website does not even acknowledge making this reel; although they sell parts for many of their other reels. Three business days since I inquired about part list for the Escalade and no reply from the company; but I understand they prefer to deal with retailers and not individual consumers.
Faulty Bail 2 for 2
Bought two of these reels, both had an issue with the bail. Bail would not open about 1/3 of the time. Felt like something was binding and blocking it from opening far enough to click into the open position. Display model worked well and the other Quantum spinning reel I own is fine. Hope this was just a fluke, but twice in a row indicates consistent low quality for the model.
