Abu Garcia Reel Oil And Lube

This lube oil and grease comes from a leading reel manufacturer in convenient dispensers. It contains Silicone lubricant that most reel manufacturers recommend as an ingredient of the reel lubricants. It should be good to use on any brand of reel. It is readily available at a low cost. What else could one want? The basic rule of reel lubrication and service is to clean the reel, put the grease on the gears and a little of the oil on the bearings and other moving parts. Follow the manufactures service and lubrication instructions in the reels owners' manual, if available.

I hate to admit it, but I often ignore my salt water reels, although I do rinse them off after using. When I took them apart I saw areas where corrosion was starting, and left over sand that hadn't come out in the fresh water rinse. After a better cleaning and use of oil and grease, I thing the reels are smooth operating and maybe will last longer. This was not an exciting purchase, but probably very necessary.
