Easton Haven Stem -
Easton Haven Stem 2014.

The Easton Haven stem is an all mountain game changer. The Haven stem is a 143g (70mm) stem that’s fully CNC machined from one block of aluminum creating the highest stiffness-to-weight ratio of any Easton stem ever made, which you’ll greatly appreciate as you torque your bars climbing to the top of the mountain. Distributed Stress and Top Lock Technologies optimize the bar to stem interface by removing stress risers and eliminating rocking caused by floating face plates.

2014 Easton Haven Stem Features.

  • CNC alloy construction

  • Top Lock Technology™
  • Distributed Stress Technology™
  • 0° rise

Here's a bit of all-mountain bike bling that's hard to ignore. The Easton Haven Stem has the highest stiffness-to-weight ratio of any stem Easton's ever produced. That's saying a lot for a label as legendary as Easton.

They achieved this by CNC machining away a huge amount extraneous alloy at the steer tube end of the stem, leaving behind a steerer clamp that's just as sculptural as it is structural. The machine work at the handlebar clamp is what Easton calls Top Lock, where it's designed to be assembled in a certain way. The uppermost portion of the clamp should be tightened first, actually "locking" the top portion together. Then you'd proceed to torque the lower two bolts to spec. This perfect match of the faceplate against the stem body better distributes clamping force, and reduces any excess load on your bars due to uneven clamping pressures which can cause damaging fatigue.

Without getting lost in all this talk of amazing strength, the Easton Haven Stem is ridiculously gorgeous. It may just be a stem, but you can tell Easton's engineers and graphics teams suffered to make this one shine.

The Easton Haven Stem is made of Easton CNC Aluminum. It's available in 55, 70, 85, and 100mm lengths with an oversize 31.8mm clamp diameter. It fits 1-1/8" steerers and has a 0° rise. Color options include Gloss Black and Magnesium.

Easton Haven Stem.

Easton’s Haven line of components have become a pioneer in All Mountain components. The Haven Stem is no exception. If you don’t believe in magic, you just might now. The Haven Stem weighs in at 153 grams (85-millimeter) and is a precisely CNC (computer numerical controlled) machined alloy stem that offers a higher stiffness-to-weight ratio than any mountain stem that Easton has ever produced. With the importance of optimum bar/stem interface in mind, Easton has removed stress risers and eliminated rocking caused by floating face plates, with their Distributed Stress and Top Lock Technologies.

Easton Haven Stem Reviews:

Positive Reviews:

The main reason I bought this stem is because I wanted a good looking, shorter stem with a zero degree rise/drop to it. Having the Havoc stem from Easton, I was expecting the Haven to be a bit lighter and more XC style. While it's a bit heavier than I was expecting, this isn't some whimpy road stem. While it is a bit on the heavier side, this stem has everything else going for it: super strong, great aesthetics, and stupid simple installation.
If you haven't used Easton's TopLock stems in the past, you are missing out. Simply tighten the top bolts all the way down, then torque the bottom 2 to spec. Not only does this make the top of the stem look really clean, it makes torquing pesky carbon handlebars a breeze.
Gone are the days of waiting for the first carbon crack then backing off a quarter turn. Wait, don't EVER do that!

Running this stem in a 55mm with 720mm bars on a '09 Heckler that I ride as my do-it-all, aggressive trail bike. Stem feels stiff, although not the lightest (but I wasn't really concerned with this).
Swapped to this from my slammed Easton Havoc stem that felt a bit too cramped. Happy medium between control when you're blasting and having room to stretch out on the pedally bits.

Looks great. Very light and supper stiff. Does not flex at all. I am running the 85 with the haven carbon bars. Makes a nice setup. Super stiff.

I running the 55mm stem on my 09 Enduro - LOVE IT! Looks great, super light weight.

This is an awesome stem-lightweight and stiff. Makes a nice complement to the Haven Carbon Bar.

Negative Reviews:

Running the Havoc carbon bars full length with the shortest (55mm) haven stem on a Transition Covert. These components came stock on the bike. Bars are strong as an ox but the stem twisted and bent. Probably not the best option if you ride hard.
