Outdoor Research Crocodiles Gaiters for Men - 2013 Model.
Be ready to venture out in the snow wearing these Outdoor Research Crocodiles Gaiters for Men. These 2013 model gaiters effectively fends off snow, dirt, water, pebbles, and debris while providing a comfortable, snug fit on your legs. It is designed with two kinds of fabrics - GORE-TEX and Cordura . The GORE-TEX nylon that make up the upper leg keeps your legs dry as you enjoy your rugged activities. It delivers superior waterproof and windproof protection without affecting its breathability. It also prevents heat loss since it blocks moisture from the environment outside. The Cordura that make up the inner leg and boot, on the other hand, gives the gaiters excellent durability against ice, rocks, and the occasional nick of crampon points. The design of these 2013 Crocodile Gaiters is also convenient for the wearer. The double-stitched front closures allow easy on/off access, while the top closures come with a webbing/cam top that secures the top of the gaiters to your leg. Also a feature is their BioThane instep strap that's durable against moisture, shocks, and abrasions and easy to clean. If you're looking for gaiters that'll protect your feet from the cold and other elements, opt for the Outdoor Research Crocodiles Gaiters for Men.

Mountain Gear

There is a reason they have been around so long - they work! Outdoor Research's Crocodiles Gaiters provide GORE-TEX waterproof protection and Cordura durability so you can take on rain, snow, mud, or crampons. The triple-bartacked BioThane webbing instep strap is incredibly durable to lock your gaiters in place while the front clasp makes sure the front of your boots stay covered.

Like their reptilian namesakes, Outdoor Research Crocodiles have been around forever. And because they're tough as nails, they've hardly changed during that time - they're remained king of the gaiter kingdom, year after year. There's always room for improvement, though, so the instep strap is now triple-bartacked BioThane® webbing, and an additional tab holds the front opening down, but otherwise they remain as they were when they first appeared. The fitted design and durable, waterproof fabrics are as effective now as ever.

Outdoor Research Crocodiles Gaiters Reviews:

Breathable gore-tex material won't sweat out your legs. Keeps the snow out. They've saved a few pairs of pants from tears without so much as a fray. keeps my pants cinched up tight to keep them from getting caught on my front points. cinches down over your boots to keep the snow out. Heel strap is very durable. I wish the calf cinch strap had a better way to secure the tail. I tuck it in the top but it always comes out. I haven't used these in a temperate climate but they are great for alpine mountain ops. I wouldn't want shorter ones. Got the Large and work great on my size 11.5 Scarpa and Vasque Mountaineering boots.

I am happy with this product.

I have used these gaiters in snow over 4 inches, almost daily, to snowshoe and just to hike this winter.
I like that I can put my boots on and then easily put these gaiters on over them with minimal fuss and time. The sturdy straps that go under the boots are better than laces or cords, and after setting them initially, have needed no further adjustment.
The top strap and clip which cinches the gaiter above the calf works fine but is a little measly in my opine. I would buy this again, however.

will last forever!

These were passed down from my father to me. My pair must be over 10 years old and still working great. I hiking part of my AT thru-hike with them and LOVE their function. Great substitute to pants if you are trying to go lighter weight. I prefer a gaiter over a pant anyday! GORE-TEX is the easiest waterproofing to maintain and keep alive. You will get what you pay for with these.

This is the only gaiter I will ever use when working in the snow or on hikes where I may come across large water crossings. Although I have only used these a handful of times, I have used them in a different environment during each use. These gaiters are durable and fully waterproof, and if you're disappointed OR will back you up for the lifetime of the product.

Excellent Quality - as expected.

Have only had one opportunity to use Croc Gaiters, snowshoeing in the Sierras. Found them to be easy to put on and keep in place. Fit was better than other gaiters I have tried. No problems with snow getting past them. Somewhat surprised that the stitched seams were not seam-sealed, but that is easy enough to do myself. Looking forward to really testing them in the near future.

Amaizing product....

These Gators are tough! Backpacked a 50 mile loop in the Adirondack willderness in the winter and the gators were put to the test, and passed. My only grievance with this product is not quality but the sizing chart. I wear size 12 boots the chart suggests XL gators, when I received them the XL was about a size too big.
Justin at SummitHut.com on 03/03/2010

These crocs are tough and been a staple to my outdoor gear for years. There are no other gaiters that withstand the rugged beatings, keeping the wet and gunk out and always staying secure.
Only problems I've ever encountered were self inflected tears via crampons and nothing that the old repair kit duct tape can't handle.

Scott Scooter Sowle at Backcountry.com on 11/23/2013

Just picked these up. Great for general mountaineering use in the Cascades. Tough and waterproof. Keeps the snow out. I wear a 9.5 in mountaineering boots, and went with a medium in these gaiters. The large would have left too much slack in the calves.

Brandon Smith at Backcountry.com on 06/14/2013

A little small but they worked well.

Even though they are XXL they didnt fit very well. They are a bit tight especially if you wear layers and have big calves. However, even though they were tight they did the job very well. My lower legs and feet were warm and dry.

Last pair you will buy

Crocs are hands down the best gaiter for snow/rain use. Super rugged, stay in place, completely waterPROOF, these things are great. Pair them with a waterproof boot and you'll rarely have wet feet. Great classic product.
