Patagonia Down Sweater Reviews:

When you’ve got a little-one, they grow like weeds, so a new winter jacket each year is a fact of life. Last year was the first year we decided to go with Patagonia… each of the 2 previous years we got him the North Face Nuptse.
The most obvious difference between the two is bulk. The Patagonia is thinner and less “pillowy”. I felt it was much easier for him to move around in it and simple things like buckling him into a car seat was MUCH easier. My son is tall and thin and I found the general cut of this jacket better as well… not as wide in the body as the Nuptse. It was not so slender though where it prevented you from layering underneath. Upon arrival, my wife was openly concerned about how much thinner it was… but all winter we had no issues in terms of warmth… especially when layered with the down vest underneath.
Like pretty much all Patagonia gear I’ve had, it was pretty bullet-proof. It washed/dried great the couple times we had to. We had no issues with the zippers or seams or anything like that. The only real improvement I would suggest after putting it through the ringer is that I wish the sleeves were a touch longer. This jacket is so well made that doing that might extend this jacket into 2-year territory for kids of any size (they all seem to get longer but stay pretty thin).
It really is a great little jacket.

Originally, I scoffed at the idea of a $90 jacket for a kid. Then a kind soul got my son one as a gift...and I totally got it. Since then, between two kids, we've gone through 5 of these coats. It's light, warm, and melds to the kid- by which I mean it's not stiff at all, so it doesn't get in the way. It's not bulky so its easy to move in, and it works for everything from an outside dinner in the spring to light snow in the winter (just, well, pay attention to the layering). It even gets use at the lake house in the summer on a cool evening. It's not waterproof, of course, and like all down may shed feathers from time to time. When they got funky, throw 'em in the washer and move on with life. Really, did you want more from a jacket?
Size wise, it fits "true" for my tall and relatively skinny kids. Both are 99% for height, 60th percentile for weight and wear, say, size 18m when 18 months old. By 20 months, it's time for 3t, though, so stay ahead of the curve and order up a size. Or win the lottery and then afford one in every size.

My son lives in this jacket from about November to April. It's a perfect jacket for 90 percent of winter. Note that it is warm for how low profile it is, but it's also not as warm as a big burly jacket. When it does get really cold, or we are out playing in the snow he wears his ski jacket.
A fantastic investment that will be hand-me-down for his little brother.

We have had this Patagonia for several years now and it has kept several of our kids warm and enjoying the outdoors through the winter. On the inside Patagonia's baby clothes there is a tag that declares the products "hand-me-down" potential and it has certainly been true for us. This coat is durable, warm, and comfortable for a kid to wear no matter what the activity.

This is the second down jacket from Patagonian that we have purchased for our little boy. He loves them! It keeps him warm and even though he has put it through the ringer its still holding strong. Best money spent on clothing for him hands down!

I love this jacket because it is so lightweight and easy for my toddler to move in. He looks adorable in it and we constantly get compliments on it. It is worth every penny and I will definitely buy one again.
