Great pattern!

How did I miss this item during the REI sale? I routinely scour sites for great dresses and skirts, so I can only guess that I saw the green skirt as pictured but didn't click on the photo. The blue/grey with purple floral skirt is so distinctive! The fabric is soft and seems light enough for me to hang dry. At 5'2 the skirt hits just at/above the knee, making me a little self conscious so I want to be sure there is no dryer shrinkage. This will travel well this summer and see lots of use- but hopefully we won't run into anyone else on the street with the same color/pattern!

I like that this has two uses but I highly doubt I'll pull off the halter top look. This will be my staple skirt this summer.

The Magic Piece

The only complaint I have about this piece is- I want more color options! (yes, silly complaint...) On to the good stuff. This piece as a shirt is very functional and flattering if you are on the bigger bust side you may want to use caution as you would with any halter top. The ties are not extra strength and you probably don't want a wardrobe malfunction. The piece as a skirt is flawless. you can wear it with a basic tee tucked in or out add a sweater or blouse . You really can't go wrong with it especially when you have two options regarding how to wear it. I'm going to Europe and bringing as much as I can fit in a school bag and this will be joining me for the adventure!

cute, fun skirt

Overall, I like the skirt. I ordered the dusty blue with the purple flowers. I've had a hard time finding a top to match so just wear white. The "white" in the skirt isn't really white, but I don't think anyone would notice.

It's fun and flirty.

The drawback for me is the waist. Because of my wide hips, the skirt tends to drift up to my waist. The length is still okay when this happens, but I'd just prefer it to sit a bit lower. I'm 5'3", petite and ordered the XS. I considered returning for a S so it'd sit lower, but am glad I didn't so that I can wear it as a top, too.

Looks like it'd make a cute top, but I haven't tried that yet.

Great casual skirt

This is the second lithia skirt I have purchased. The quality of the fabric seems to be just as good as the one I bought 2 years ago, which still looks new despite how long I have had it. I typically wear XS in Patagonia clothing, but I purchased this skirt in S because I wanted it to be lower rise. The XS kept riding up. This is my go-to skirt for casual activities and running errands on the weekend. It gets pretty windy where I live so I sometimes wear cropped leggings underneath to avoid a repeat of the "Marilyn Monroe" incident I had a couple years ago :-)

Cute skirt

I'm 5'2" with wider-set hips and a smaller bust. As a skirt, this is adorable. It hits just a hair above my knee. However, I think I'm a little too short to wear it as a shirt. It hits at an awkward place and because of my wider-set hips, it really does look like I'm wearing a skirt as a top. This would probably look very cute as a top on someone who is taller, or at least has more balance between chest and hips. But, as a skirt, it gets 5 stars. Also, the background color (on my monitor) looks gray. It's actually a bluish-gray. It's gorgeous nonetheless.

Pretty, Sporty, Sexy

I rarely purchase things full price but I treated myself to this cute little skirt. It's adorable. I have gotten tons of compliments on it. Plus, it's very comfortable. I ride my bike in it all the time and I shove it in the bottom of my camping gear and pull it out on hot days. I love to wear it after camping on the car trip home because it is so comfortable and it makes me look a little more civilized than my other camping gear for the way back home. By the way you can also wear it out to dinner at a casual place.

comfy and sexy

I love this skirt with one small exception. I typically wear a Patagonia Medium. I have the same skirt in a different fabric in Med. and after a couple of washes it just doesn't have a flattering fit. I bought this in a Small and it's great. I've washed it a few times, and it's still looking/fitting like new. The navy blue stripe can appear navy or black depending on what you wear with it. It's flattering and summery, and can be dressed up with a pair of high sandals. I'll stick with the small on the next order.

AMAZING PIECE

This piece is awesome! I am 5'5'' 125 with a 34D chest and both the S and XS fit as a skirt and shirt. The XS was a little tight on my hips but not uncomfortable and the tighter XS made the piece fit a little better as a shirt. This piece is so cute no matter how you are wearing it! I love how versatile it is and I couldn’t be happier! This skirt is definitely worth it especially since it doubles as a shirt that is also very comfortable and good looking!

Cute Skirt

Ordered in the Harvest Blue floral. The fabric is really, really nice. Just received so I haven't washed it yet. Color you see on line is true. Very pretty pattern. I got the large. I am 5' 7-1/2", 145lbs and measure 37 (C), 31, 39. For me - this does not work as a top at all. I gave it four stars as a skirt because of minor concerns on where the rouched waistband will lay. I will definitely wear a top that comes out over the waist rather than one tucked in.

Love this SHIRT!

Bought this shirt/skirt for a surf trip to Panama. I love wearing it as a shirt and swore I would never wear it as a skirt. In order to save room in my bag on my trip I wore it as a shirt and a few days later as a skirt. People complimented me on my skirt, they couldn't believe it was my shirt from 2 days ago. It is such a cute fit. Buy it for the shirt, but you'll find that you wear it as a skirt too. Love the versatility!

Negative Reviews:

Wanted to like this more than I did

I wanted to get a nice skirt that could go with a wide variety of outfits for an upcoming trip to Europe. This skirt seemed to fit when I first tried it on, but it didn't stay in place that well and became unflattering on the hips and thighs whenever it moved at all. I would recommend this for women with straighter figures, but for curvier women like me, the fit can quickly become unflattering and make it not worth it. The fabric was also slightly weird - it was stretchy, but not really stretchy enough. It seemed to make it less "flowy" than I was looking for. Overall, I think others might really like this skirt, but only if their body type doesn't run into the same issues mine did. I ended up returning mine.

fabric is way too thin for me

I love most patagonia stuff and lived in the morning glory skirts last summer. I was advised that this skirt had a comparable weight, but even the black is basically see through. Girls in an A cup could probably get away with using it as a top, but that's not reality for me so I'm not sure what I can wear it to. This would make a better bathing suit cover up than date or day out skirt. If you're okay with thin skirts, this one could be cute. The cut is also different from morning glory in that it's a good bit shorter and flares out, giving me an uncomfortable cheerleader feeling. If that's your style, go for it (this one just doesn't suit me).

Pretty Disappointed

My wife loved the skirt when she first put it on, and I was the hotshot husband for picking it out. She wore it a few times with tights, washed it, and then packed it for our Costa Rica trek to wear as a skirt and a top. Unfortunately, when she put it on in CR, the elastic had somehow loosened so it no longer fit her hips or chest snugly. The size was definitely right when she first wore it so it's not as if she stretched it out. We think something happened in the wash. She's pretty disappointed. We plan to take it back to see about a refund.

Bagged out

I was very excited to like this skirt, but unfortunately it doesn't live up to the hype. When I first put it on, it fit great! But after about an hour of wearing it, it lost all elastic and I had to use the ties to tie around my hips to keep it from falling off. After I washed it, it fit great again, but after an hour, again it was too baggy.

yellow print material is see through

I sent the skirt back. I had the yellow print one, and it was very see through and i could see any pair of underware i tried, i could even see my legs right thoguh it. maybe some of the other prints are more opaqe, which would be great, because it fit and felt really great.

Too short

I bought two of these skirts two years ago and I love them, this year however they are way to short... Not good for a girl with a big butt... the top however works well, i miss the skirt though...
tatimiami at Patagonia on 06/16/2013

Neutral Reviews:

I like the skirt. I don't love the skirt. I wear a 14 and got the size L. I think it would look better if it were longer. It's a few inches above my knees--not too short by any means. It just seems it would be more flattering if it hit at my knees. I'm 5'8" with a 33" inseam if that helps anyone. The fabric is great. I haven't yet worn it as a top. I rarely wear anything that bare (I live in Alaska, weather and convention make it inappropriate most of the time).

cry5515112 at Backcountry.com on 09/21/2012

Great skirt, but needs more support as a top.

Super cute prints and great versatility, but the top definitely needs some shelf bra support. Even as an A cup, I can't really wear this without a bra. It's not a lot of trouble to put on a strapless bra, but at the price, it's fair enough to expect some built-in support from Patagonia's tops. On the other hand, this is great as a skirt so I didn't return it. I'm 5'2" , 110 lbs and the small fits great.
AnitaL at Patagonia on 06/30/2012

Pretty skirt but bulky on waist

Beautiful skirt but I don't like how bulky it feels and looks around my waist. It feels more comfortable when I fold the waistband down so that it sits on my hips. Also, I've worn and washed it a few times and noticed some fading and that it is prone to wrinkling. However, I do like the skirt and will continue to wear it because it does have pretty colors and is nice and light for hot summer days.

about ordering

great skirt and I recently took it to the beach- easy to slip on and off, really comfy and goes with most things. I specified the grey and black one. I ended up with the green one. Not a huge issue; I would have liked to have received what I ordered.
Elief2012 at Patagonia on 08/25/2012

I absolutely love the yellow pattern, but it is so thin you can see right through it. I have this skirt in a dark pattern and is my absolute favorite so I was hoping to pick up another, but I will stay with dark colors from now on.

jam3116182 at Backcountry.com on 05/18/2013

fun skirt, but as a top is loose

The skirt is fun and flirty. Not big busted and the top is a little loose. Started with the yellow patterned version, which is very see through so traded for a different color.
