Patagonia Snowshot Jacket -

Patagonia states that their Men's Snowshot Jacket is good for "ripping the park, charging powder in the trees or dropping into fresh steeps." They always use such cool lingo.... but I'm not convinced that sometimes they don't just make up expressions. The Snowshot jacket is great for threading a nasty burn, catching a fling or shredding your W-2s (did those sound real?). The H2No® Performance Standard 2-layer ripstop shell is waterproof/breathable so you can venture out into the backcountry and do some freeriding. It is lined with 100% polyester mesh so it slides on easily over layers, so you can tailor your temperature for your activities (pit-zips further increase temperature control). It is also loaded plenty of comfort/safety features (listed below). So check out the Snowshot jacket and go catch the fling and shred your W-2s.

Patagonia Snowshot Jacket Reviews:

Great jacket, but "relaxed" = huge

It's a shell, so don't expect warmth from this alone, but it does a fantastic job of blocking the wind and keeping the wet out. I really like the zip off hood as I don't always want to have one on my jacket. The neck is tall enough that you can zip up and tuck your self in like a turtle with only your eyes showing. Great for protecting your face from a strong, frigid wind. This winter I've been using it as a top layer over an average, run-of-the-mill fleece. Under that is just a sweater or a polo on my way to and from work. The combo was plenty warm when the temps dipped to -20°F a couple weeks back. I was only commuting to work and walking around on my lunch break though. If I were spending extended time outdoors I would have gone for my Cap 2 or a fleece base layer under an R4 or down jacket. As far as fit and finish are concerned I'm happy, but not overly enthused. I wear a large, bought a large, and it fits my chest (42") and arms like a large shell should. It has ample room to layer underneath. I can wear a 800-fill down jacket under it and not feel as though things are tight and stretched. If you are looking for a more athletic fit I'm confident I could fit into a smaller size. The only concern I would have with a smaller size is the powder skirt. The skirt on the large jacket is ever-so-slightly stretching the elastic to fit around my 36" waist. I figure that's perfect to make a good seal and keep the snow out. I would worry about the skirt on a medium jacking needing more stretch and putting unwanted pressure against my hips/waist/abdomen. The only reason I can't give it 5 stars is the "relaxed" fit. It's a jacket that fits like an over-sized parka. It's longer than expected, and probably 6" longer than desired for a ski jacket. It does feel and look a bit baggy below the chest. I bought this to be a new top layer for skiing. It will only get used as a daily wear top layer for my trips in and around town. The extra room is comfy for daily use.

Great Jacket

I have last years jacket but the only thing they've changed is colors and a Recco receiver. Burly fabric and keeps you dry. Plenty of room for layering but I'd recommend sizing down as they are cut huge. The collar is perfectly designed and the hood is the best helmet compatible one I've used. There are a ton of pockets. I thought the zippers could have been beefier but they held up over a season. My only two complaints are small but in my mind staples for a ski jacket. There's no pass pocket and none of the pockets have a clip to hold your pass in. I'd also like to see a two way zipper. I've never had a ski jacket without one. Other than those two little gripes I'd buy it again. Definitely the Patagonia quality I'd expect.

Excellent buy

I use this gear every day, all uses. It's a great buy. The only downside I see, if any, is that the hood cannot be folded unto itself\in the collar, and remains always deployed. It's sometimes a hindrance.
