The North Face Resolve Jacket Reviews:

Positive Reviews:

This is my first rain jacket purchase for backpacking. I took it into the Sierra Nevada for a week. The comfort and mobility it provides definitely beat your standard poncho, and I didn't notice it getting all moist and nasty inside. I didn't wear it in extended heavy downpours, but it kept the water off just fine in the rain that I did face. Even though it doesn't actually have insulation, I found it served well as a windbreaker and really helped to keep me warm. The soft fabric collar is great for comfort and helping to maintain heat. On top of that, I got several compliments from fellow campers on this jacket. Style points are always cool (even if you're roughin' it in the back country). The only real complaint I have at this point is that the hood tends to hang down over my eyes making it difficult to see. I also didn't hike much in the jacket. I just get too hot with the pack and all. So I can't say how it holds up with the pack on and me clambering over boulders. For the times I did use it, this jacket seemed to work fine. And the sale price offered by Backcountry definitely made this a worthy purchase.

Love this Jacket

So I bought this jacket a few days ago and so far i really like it. The mesh interior feels great on your skin and doesn't rub against you. I tested it out in the rain for a few minutes the other day and it did its job. In light mists and a heavy downpour I stayed completely dry inside. I haven't actually had the chance to actually put it to use yet though but so far i really like it! I do have one complaint though. When it comes to sizing it seems to run large. I am normally a person who would wear a medium jacket or a large depending on who made it. Considering that, I ordered a medium. I should have ordered a small. Overall though, its a great jacket that will protect you from the rain

my shirt didnt get dirty. if i had a choice between the marmot membraine waterproof fabric and the north face hyvent fabric, ................. cant choose. was very impressed with previous waterproof jacket by marmot and now have this one which is about the same quality and just as breathable as marmot. just got this one because it was cheaper at the time. will withstand and big downpour. very durable fabric. no insulation whatsoever which is a good thing if your not a wimp. my only problem is that the hood is too big and droops down farther past my forehead and theres no stretchy cord adjustable thing in the back. it bugs me alot so i bought a marmot membraine brim hat and i am very content with both. well worth the price.

Grab a North Face Resolve jacket they keep you so dry! Even when the rain is falling heavy from the sky. I like the basic black, it's as dark as midnight. When I'm camping I literally leave this thing on all night into the morning light. It's great because it's super light weight, and if it's chilly a thin base layer will keep you feeling toasty and great. All in all this is my favorite rain jacket I've owned so far. It handles bad weather with ease and still looks sleek at the bar. I recommend you grab one, the North Face is always fun, and with Backcountry's awesome customer service backing you, you've pretty much already won!

got this jacket for a great price from steep and cheap. i just got back from hiking from the snowbowl parking lot to the base of mount elden. 14 miles in the rain. It kept me dry the entire time in monsoon season here in flagstaff. my tee shirt underneath was dry by the time the rain stopped. the jacket dried out halfway down the 2.5 mile descent down elden. i cant say that i was warm with just a t shirt underneath but when im walking around town it keeps me warm enough for the early fall weather so far. very impressed!

Great jacket

I got this in oragne for my 19 yo son, whose favorite color is orange for a 10 day trip to London and Paris in the first week of March. It was cold and rainy (30's-40's), so I wanted a waterproof jacket for him. He really liked it. He liked the fact that it was so light, packable, and rainproof. I liked that it was easy to spot and long enough in the back to cover his bottom. I almost wish it was parka length, but it worked. He layered and it kept him fairly warm, too. I would recommend this.

Love this gear!

This jacket is perfect to keep in the car for a bad situation. Regardless if your wearing it for everyday use or emergency... This is the one! This jacket is light and clean. But still offer heat and shelter from the elements. I personally keep this in my vehicle in case of rain or storm conditions. I buy numerous TNF clothing, and sometimes it's not what is expected, however this jacket exceeds my expectations as a quick grab and run rain jacket. I love the zipper or Velcro system.
Size runs normal; I'm 165lbs and 69inchs tall - medium fits perfect!
JASONxxx24 at The North Face on 10/30/2013

This is a very nice piece of clothing and does what it's meant for. Kept me dry in the rain The mesh lining is a nice touch, however it should be noted that there is no mesh lining inside the sleeves, only the torso.
The hood can be tucked away in the collar, however this makes the collar feel bulky andtook some getting used to. Sale price made this a great purchase

I have worn this jacket through everything from a light rain to a complete downpour, and I have never had to worry about getting wet. With the North Face Thermoball as a warming layer, this has become my go to outer shell. The only down side is the hood. I wish it had a cinch to keep it from covering my eyes, but I can get over that.

Great value

This jacket is comfortable warm and keeps the rain out. The day I got it I wore it through a heavy rain storm in my bike to work, needless to say it passed the test. It does run alittle big but the drawstring makes up for that. Anyone thinking of getting a north face should look here for a great value.

Negative Reviews:

The jacket seems to be looking great in the website but actually it seems to be a wind cheater variety so have to return the same. That makes me feel Always by from stores by looking at it.

Neutral Reviews:

I bought this thing off of Steep and Cheap, one of Backcountry.com's sister sites, and I got a great deal on a jacket that seemed awesome. I will admit it does a pretty good job most of the time, I used it all summer when I worked at a summer camp and we had more rain some of those weeks than you can imagine. Just don't trust it with anything valuable in your pockets when its an all out downpour. We were doing a night hike on the AT to see the sunrise at one of me and my friends favorite spots and as soon as we were about to start hiking the rain started, we thought it would slow up or something but it got harder and harder. If your going to big bucks on a North Face rain jacket, go ahead and get the Venture jacket. I haven't experienced it but it has a newer version of the Hyvent material this jacket uses and other people suggested getting that one over this one. I wish I had taken their advice, would have been a little more expensive, but would have been worth it in the long run

least expensive rain shell

It works - sort of. As long as it is just a light rain for a short period but in a sustained rain or hard rain you will get wet as it will soak through. I bought it in 2006 and the collar area has begun delaminating and shredding. The hood works best when I use it to cover my hat. The wide brim on the hat keeps the rain out of the eyes while the hood doesnt need to be cinched down to provide protection. The mesh liner seems to snag on small branches if you dont zip up the jacket all the way. You will definitely get water bleed through from the shoulder straps on the shoulders - they shoud look at using a different material in that area. The 2L Hyvent is OK but my jacket is pretty worn out by now. I replaced it with a 2.5L Hyvent product that should hold up a bit better.
Roarmeister2 at The North Face on 05/24/2013

When I first tried this on, I thought it was a much more expensive garment. The fit and the feel are pretty high end. It took several days of using it to realized it had elastic cuffs, the only feature that is low end. The jacket adequately repels water, fits great and looks much more expensive than it is. I'd say that's a win. For the price, it's hard to find a better value.

Adrian Montgomery at Backcountry.com on 12/16/2013

This jacket is a pretty good jacket, I love the way it fits and it gets its job done nicely. I will say the downside is that after one wash mine started to "blob" on the rain instead of bead repel it off. I did not get wet but it just does not bead off the rain anymore, but over all fits great, looks great, lightweight, keeps you dry!
