The North Face Resolve Jacket -

The North Face Women's Resolve is a waterproof rain jacket that can easily transition from everyday use around town, to the backcountry when crappy weather arrives. The Resolve jacket is made with nylon ripstop HyVent 2L fabric that is mesh lined and features seam sealed construction. The attached hood is adjustable and stows in the collar, and the hem cinch cord and Velcro closure front zip help keep out even that sideways rain garbage. North Face designed this jacket with a standard fit so it fits great over baselayers and midlayers. On average, the Resolves weigh in around 16.5 ounces.

Fend off torrential downpours thanks to The North Face Resolve Jacket. Waterproof and breathable HyVent 2L shell fabric allows sweaty vapor to escape from within, and shrugs off heinous weather on the outside. At less than 17 ounces this jacket packs easily without weighing you down on long treks. An interior mesh lining provides a buffer between your under layers and the outer fabric, and a hem cinch cord battens down the waist. Flip up the adjustable hood when the skies turn particularly nasty, but don't worry; fully-taped seams add an additional measure of weatherproofing so you won't spring any unexpected leaks. The North Face used a fully adjustable hood to round out the Resolve Rain Jacket's features and ensure you stay bone-dry even in nasty weather.

The North Face Resolve Jacket Reviews:

Positive Reviews:

I just received this jacket as a Christmas gift, and I love it! I am 5'7" and 130 pounds and I got it in a medium. It fits perfectly, but I still have enough room to wear a sweater underneath. I know that some previous wind jackets have been kind of boxy, but this one is great. If a windbreaker can be flattering, this one is! I have shorter legs and a long torso, and even still, it is long enough for me. I also have a neck that is longer than most, but the zipper comes up quite high, basically to my chin, which I really like. The sleeves are long enough, with a little extra, but not too much. The hood is also a good size. You could easily fit a sweater under that part too and it is a good shape, not pointy or anything weird like that. I have yet to wear it in the rain or wind, but I am quite confident that I will be satisfied with it. Overall, it is a great jacket, and I am excited to use it and glad that after a couple years of thinking about purchasing this product, I now have one!

I got this style for my 5 year old and so admired it that I found the Big Kid size for myself! Unlike many other reviewers, I found this jacket to run to size - and I am tall - 5'10, 135 lbs. I ordered the Large because of the feedback and will keep it because I am too lazy to exchange. Typically, I would order a Medium and find it roomy enough. The sleeves are plenty long - extends over my wrists. The back extends to about the middle of my butt. My daughter has been the rain without complaints. I put mine under the faucet just to check the repellancy - seems great. I love it!

totally waterproof

I bought this jacket at Sportchek this past June, and have worn it tons ever since. I ride my bike everywhere, and this jacket has kept me dry in pouring rain on numerous occasions. I love that the sleeves are long enough, on most jackets they are too short for me. I wear it when it's not raining too, especially in the fall when you just need a light jacket to put over your sweater. Definitely worth the money.

I am in love with this jacket. At this point, I wear it just about everyday. Great for a rainy day or over a down jacket when its chilly outside. I did find that it runs a bit small. I usually order a size up just to be safe and I was definitely glad I did in this case. Overall, it is a very comfortable and versatile jacket and its a great option at that price point.

Better than expected

A couple of reviews I read made me worry about this coat. I'm not sure what they got because my coat is amazing. We've had really dry and cold fog lately in Oregon and this coat completely shut out all the cold but I never got too hot either. The brilliant blue is really pretty too. I'd wear it all the time if I could. Its an overall great buy for the low price.

I have used this every day for since I bought it in October. Surprisingly warm for being just a jacket. Went on a hike today and stayed perfectly warm and dry . In weather warmer than 35 degrees I use by itself. For colder weather I use my north face osito under it and it's like wearing a very warm winter jacket. Looks really cute with everything, jeans, sweats, dress pants.

Pros: More "feminine" shape (not boxy), nice blue color, kept me dry in heavy rain. Cons: Seems to run small--not much room for layering. I'd be considered "petite" at 5'2" and thin frame. Normally wear a small, but don't have much room for layering so order up if you plan to do so. Hood seemed a bit small to me, too. No vents under the arms.

I am in the process of returning a Columbia jacket and wanting to get this one but it makes me nervous reading all of the comments about the sizes. My friend has this jacket and loves it but she is 5'10" and about 140 and I am 5'2" and 130 so I can't decide whether to get a XS, S or M?

Kayla at Backcountry.com on 01/09/2014

I got this jacket in white, size medium. I am 5'8", 145 pounds and the medium fits perfectly. The cut is great for women, not too straight, but cute and athletic. It has a nice fleece on the inside for a little extra warmth. Perfect hood if you get caught in the rain. Love it!

North Face Resolve Jacket

This jacket arrived in under a week. The fit is perfect, the colour perfect, and the overall quality - perfect. It has already become my favourite. The sleeves are a tad long, which works for me, as so are my arms!
Thank you North Face. Will definitely buy from you again.

Negative Reviews:

Disappointed

Expected better from North Face, have had my Bionic for over 4 years, has held up great, needed a rain jacket, ordered the resolve, disappointed in poor quality lining around inner collar that snags easily, and has already pulled and snagged getting caught up in the Velcro over the zipper in the first washing-sleeves too long and no way to tighten them, so they hit my finger tips, offers ZERO warmth--don't want the hassle of shipping it back, so I probably wont return it-- on the bright side, it's light enough, it won't take up much room in the back of my closet-
SCa1 at The North Face on 10/16/2013

Nice colour (yellow), great fit everywhere except the sleeves - about 2 inches too long, and way too loose. A tab with velcro would have been a low-cost low tech brilliant addition. I don't want rain pouring up my sleeves. I had to return the jacket.

I found this product ran small around the hips and had to send it back. :(
