Hiking shoe/boot alternative.

I'm on my third Ultra series shoe. I started out with two pairs of 104's and they helped me loose so much weight, that I had to replace my last pair - not due to wear, but because my feet shrunk out of them! I bought these primarily for hiking and hit the trail 1-4 times a month year round, though I also wear them to the gym and around town - especially in the rain. The Gore-Tex is great for that. The sole is grippy and supportive, but flexible. Compared to hiking shoes, they're lighter and more agile. I never get blisters or sore feet, and really like the double eyelet lacing system. It takes some trial and error to figure out exactly how you want them, but it really lets you dial in the fit of the shoe. The shoe itself is durable and stands up well to rocks, scrambling, and mud. I recommend hand washing them occasionally in the sink so that they remain breathable. My only gripe is that they only come in one color, and the laces are too long if you use a lot of the narrow eyelets. Long enough to drag even (I have to tuck mine). They should really be supplied with two sets of laces. With that said, I've owned A LOT of different hiking shoes and trail runners from Keen, Merrell, and North Face. Forget about the others, North Face is definitely my brand. I hope you continue to sell the ultra series, especially with the Gore-Tex option and multiple colorways.

I love these shoes. Again, I ordered 5 different shoes from Zappos, walked around the house in all of them. These had the best fit around my feet, the lightest and had Gore-Tex which I realized is a must for the camping I do. Just finished my annual 4-day hiking/camping trip. The shoes were awesome. We hiked 30 miles over 4 days -- no blisters! And I usually get at least one on shorter distances. While others around me were tending their wounds I was just doing general preventive massaging to keep the blood flowing. Great shoes.

I run every day and do a lot of mountain running. These are the most durable shoes I have had. Been using them for almost four years and this is my third pair. The Gore-Tex construction is ideal for wet and muddy conditions.

Great shoe with very comfortable fit for hiking and trail runs. A little on the heavier side, but North Face shoes always fit the same in regards to size and they can take a beating.

This is the best outdoor shoe that I've ever had. I will be buying another pair in a different color. Extremely comfortable!

Negative Reviews:

Loved these shoes in the beginning but after 2 months the base of a loop at the bottom of the tongue made them unwearable due to the pressure on the big toe.
