Gregory Wasatch 12 Reviews:

Positive Reviews:

I purchased a discontinued color of this pack for small day trips/outdoor adventures with a dog. After many uses, ranging from overnight bag to a 10+ mile day-hike, I have to say overall I am very pleased and do not regret my purchase.
The bag is rather small, and can fill up quickly if not careful. The pack is comfortable and easy to adjust. However, I feel as though I would have a rough time with this were I any larger. I am just over 6'/33in waist and feel like that is really the limit for this pack. Also, although convenient, the hip belt pockets are a little silly looking when stuffed, and can brush against my arms when walking. This has only been a slight annoyance though, and I would miss the pockets if they were to vanish.
I occasionally use the pack with an Osprey 2L bladder which has always worked well. The 2L size gives plenty of water, but doesn't take up too much space in the pack. In hindsight, I am glad I got a 2L and not a 3L. The Wasatch has a mouthpiece "clip" of sorts on the left shoulder strap, which, at least when on my frame, is in a rather awkward spot and would probably be frustrating to use. Fortunately, my Osprey hose extends much farther than this clip, and I had no problem attaching the included magnet to the pack.
Overall this is a super solid little pack for when you need a little bit of space and plenty of water. As always, backcountry gave me a great deal and was very easy to deal with. FWIW, this was my first Gregory product, and I will certainly look to them for future purchases!

Perfect Light-Weight Pack

A perfect pack that's only as perfect as one is willing to go without. I'm 5'11", 190 lbs, athletic build; an at-home father with adventurous toddlers. The pack, even at 700 ci, carries all I need for three hour hikes, etc with the expandable portion, which essentially doubles it's carrying capacity. The pack would fit better on a shorter person, but anywhere between 1/2-3/4 full (that's 10-15 lbs of "stuff) it wears nicely on my frame. I've worn this pack for at least 30 hours with a variety of loads at a variety of events, attractions, and hikes. Nearly empty you don't even know it's there. At 10 lbs full it rides like a good friend. At 15 lbs, which is a lot of stuff, I begin feeling the weight.

Great little pack

I was looking for a small, lightweight pack for trail running, day hikes, and cycling. This Gregory Wasatch 12 is exactly what I need; it is extremely comfortable and molds my back like a glove. Perfect size for lunch/snacks, a rain jacket, hydration, and a few small emergency items (flashlight, matches, First Aid kit). I've only had it for two months so the jury is still out regarding durability, and believe me I generally put my gear "through the ringer." We'll see how it holds up.

I use this backpack daily when riding my bike to/from work. It's the perfect size for a change of clothes/shoes and a few odds and ends. It IS quite small, which is exactly what I wanted. However, if you are looking for a true daypack, you'd probably want to opt for something bigger.
For me, I love the size, colors, multiple compartments and pockets, and stays nice and tight around my torso when riding my bike. Everything I wanted and expected it to be!

Not too bad of a pack

I purchased this pack for an upcoming adventure race and I've been using it for trail runs and mtn biking as well. It's pretty nice and rides snug. The only real issues I have is that it seems to ride high on my torso (despite only being 5'8") and also during high levels of activity the pockets in the waist strap soak through completely. Make sure you wrap you electronics if you put them in there!

This pack is the perfect size for a long day hike. I carries everything you might need, and the small side pockets are perfect for an ipod or a camera. Its very comfortable. I used it in nearly 100 temps on a hike in honduras and it even breathed nice underneath. Obviously I sweat under the pack, but not nearly as bad as some packs. It did not create a swamp on my back.

After seeing this bag from my brother, I knew this was going to be a perfect day pack. I've tried the full size back packs in the past, but always ended up overloading them and making them too heavy to be comfortable. The Wasatch is plenty big to carry and keep all your necessities in one place (wallet, keys, phone, tablet, extra clothes/shoes, etc.). Perfect bag to grab and go!

Great pack to store drinks and food for a hike that will take at least 5 hours. Everything you need, from a health kit to extra food to keep your body going through a grueling workout.
This pack is a lifesaver and you can even store an optional hydration pak into the back pocket. (The hydration pak is not included).

Awesome lightweight pack!

Just got this pack and took it for a 100 mile run. Fabulous! So light I could barely feel it yet it was large enough to carry enough gear for the day. Pockets are very accessible. Hip strap with added pockets are great for holding snacks, camera, etc. Definitely a good way to go for fastpacking.

Perfect size and great for hiking

Love this small and comfortable bag. Doesn't bounce around when I hike and holds all the essentials for a long hike -- water reservoir, snacks, extra clothes. I was looking for a women's bag but didn't like bright colors, this is just the right size (I am 5"6) and looks great too.

Negative Reviews:

I own the 705cu in Gregory and thought if i could have one that was a tad larger it would be a better product. The problem when I received the pack it was exactly the same size as the 705. I was not able to find the additional cu inches. I returned it.
