My Go Anywhere, Do Anything Shorts...

I really like these shorts! I have them in both 5"and 7" inseam, but the 5" is my go-to pair for running and days where I may or may not end up wet. I thought that the 5 would be to short, but it turns out that the 7 are actually longer than I like, so the 5 is perfect for me. I'm not a huge fan of the mesh lining, but I've never been a fan of that in any shorts. I understand that it is necessary, so it isn't that big of a detractor.

I'm a husky fella (5'9" 225lbs) and these are the best fitting/cut swim trunks I've ever come across. The lemon lime trunks I originally got (large) still look the same as the day I got them. I recently picked up a another pair, but I decided to go down a size. The mediums are a tad too small, and the larges a tad too big.
I've worn them for a week straight while camping/hiking and didn't have a single problem. No chafing, no riding up or falling down. Just comfort.

Great Shorts

Great shorts. I have the 5in and the 7in, and I love them both. They dry quickly if you're moving around. In hot and humid Tennessee, they can take forever to dry if you're sitting still.

Patagonia quality. They last forever.

On chafing: they can chafe if you're walking or running when they're wet. Otherwise, they are comfortable for wearing as regular shorts and for swimming, lake, river days.

Just what I wanted

I have bought these shorts for years, but the sizing had changed to that the shorts were huge on me.I decided to drop down from a large to a medium and was very satisfied with the decision.I use these for working around the yard and house, plus kayaking, walking ,ect.I not only got a pair of shorts that fit,but at a savings.I bought three this time, will order additional colors next.Thanks.

I sported these on a 33-day canoe trip this past summer, with rugged conditions and the did an amazing job. They would dry quickly, were a tough material, didn't chafe and had a great retro look to them. They are a little short, but they are better to walk in because of that. Highly recommend.

I wear these everywhere. In the summer I'll wear these wading in the river while fishing. I've taken them on the AT and they held up well. They're super comfortable and fit well. I wear a 38 and the L was a bit tight on me, I recommend a XL for that waist size.

I got them on sale so it was a complete no-brainer but seriously, if you're considering at all, get them. I don't need to go into details because these are so solid they don't matter. The comfort, look, and durability are simply things that you want and these will give you all three.

Touch cold in the winter - but only getting too/from the hot springs. Perfect once you're in. Great for everything else. Perfect for spending days on the river. Or backpacking, or climbing, or well, the list goes on. Fits true to size and lasts!

knanier at Backcountry.com on 08/22/2013

These are great shorts! Perfect to take on a hike, or for a swim. I love that they have longer and shorter versions, too. Normally, I think Patagonia runs slightly large, but these seem to be a perfect fit.

Brandon Smith at Backcountry.com on 06/29/2013

Bought my first pair in summer of 07. These are the best shorts I've ever owned. Truly a "do anything" pair of shorts. Whether it be hiking or bar crawling you're going to be comfortable and looking good.

I had a pair off these years ago. Of course they dont make them the same now, different material. There great and all that but I have an issue with their sizing. I ware a 38 and they say a 38 is XL so thats what I got and their tooooo big. Large would of been just fine. Like all Patagonia stuff its only worth buying on sale.
