Excellent quality rod.Very happy with the rod.

I love this rod and it is better than expected. It is so light and beautiful. It comes in a gorgeous graphite tube and I thought nothing was inside until I opened it up. The rod is so thin and craftmanship is on par with other more expensive rod and name brands. Cabelas really did an excellent job with this and I would never have imagined that a rod like could be had for the price. I bought the 4 wt 10ft version and it is excellent for nymphing and indicator fishing. The extra legnth allows more easy hook sets and better play. I took it out and I caught more fish than I have before because of the easier hookups. Tip is flexibile and the rod has a sturdy backbone to handle larger fish. The line just flies out of the guides and the cast effortlessly. I am tempted to put a single handed spey line on it.

Fantastic Rod

I received a 9' 6wt as a gift. I fished it for 10 days about 10 hrs a day during the Salmonfly hatch on the Deschutes river in Oregon. I have fished many rods from all of the TOP fly rod makers. You could not choose a better rod. This is one of the finest rods I have ever fished, and after over 50 years of flyfishing. I will be buying a couple more of these, for the price you can't beat this rod. It is a fast and very powerful rod but forgiving, I used a 7wt WF line and made 100ft cast with ease, with big fly's. I can't wait for the fall and fish Stripers with this rod.

Effortless casting

I just got back from Missoula Montana on a dream trip. I decided to go with the MTX 7'9" 3 Wt. What a great choice. It's a light as a feather and handled 15" browns and rainbows with no problem, and the small fish were great fun. It casts effortlessly even in the wind. I would call it a moderate fast action however. I ordered the 8'6" 4 Wt as soon as I got home, and it's definitely a stiffer rod (fast action for you technical guys). I can't wait to try it on some bass in our local lakes.

MTx... like magic.

I purchased a 10' 4 wt. MTx in September. I used it several times on a trip to the Black Hills of South Dakota. The rod exceeded my expectations in every way. Line control was like I was using a magic wand. Hook sets and fish control were outstanding. It can hold it's own against the best.
