The Remixed Remix is Great!

I had the old Remix (the knife pictured above as of 10/24/11). All of the comments and bad ratings are due to the poor closure system Gerber use to have for this knife. It was very hard to close and open! I loved my old Remix, I just got use to the funky open/close system.

It seems as if Gerber has listened to its customers and has redesigned. It now sports the open/closure system of the Paraframe knife. With this change, this is one of my favorite knives of all time. I bought mine in an REI store and was shocked to the design change. I'm really happy they have redesigned it!

Nice but....

I already had the older version of this knife. With the open ring. I like my old one, but i wanted to have a 2nd of these, just in case. The new one has some cons, like it's harder to open, but i will take care of this part.
At the older version the blade started a little further away, so you won't cut you finger when closing it, here you could do so.
I have it now for some days and we will see if it can keep up with the older version.

Solid Knife

I've had this knife for 5 months and I really like it. The open eye for your pointer finger provides a very stable grip, the blade is sharp and hasn't dulled on me, and it's easy to clean due to its open design. I would recommend the serrated model with a belt clip. The clip works well even on hikes. The only negative thing about this knife is its harder to open than I would like. Overall its a solid knife with a great design.

Great knife!

I bought this knife while in Alaska before a 2 week backpacking trip with my boyfriend. It held up through everything we did and he loved that the 'finger' hole can also be used to clip it to a carabiner. It has been 2 years and he still keeps it on his belt every day. The thing has been so used I'm actually surprised it has held on this long. Great knife, highly recommend if you're condsidering it.

Negative Reviews:

Not as cool as it looks

this is a fun knife, no doubt about it, but it has several issues. First, the clip is facing the wrong direction, in combination with how poor the knife stays folded, this makes or bad news, in the first week, I cut myself four times because the knife opened up on its own, had the clip been placed in the opposite direction, this would not have been an issue. Also, the clip is too thin, it bends very easily. This is a fun concept knife and may be better in the future, the manufacturer has a history of innovation and I doubt this will be last we hear of this knife, I would consider getting it again if these issues were fixed and the price stayed the same

What happened to a great product?

I have had Two. The first purchased from West Marine was a high quality knife. The blade did not hold up long and needs frequent sharpening but a great product. The Second a replacement for the first one which was lost overboard, and purchased from [@] is a cheap, [*] shadow of the first one I owned. The overall appearance is that of a total fake. The plating is of a lesser grade and the lock mechanism is redesigned as a different lesser quality blade style. The flat required for the new style looks like it was ground by hand on the ground a huge disapointment
Rex Highly dissapointed at WestMarine.com on 02/02/2012

looks cool, but terrible application

I bought it thinking it would be great for clipping to a carabener and nice and comfortable to grip, but after some use, I realized that the locking mechanism is all but impossible to use, and sticking my finger in the hole always makes me wonder if something might happen to break my finger. It now lives in my barn for cutting open hay bales so I don't have to mess around with opening and closing it.

Not a safe knife/belt clip design

When wearing on belt, knife hangs upside down. The blade slipped out of the closed position a little and managed to cut my shirt and almost my hand when it reached for it. The belt clip is not in a good position. It needs to be reversed so it hangs upright. Also it needs a locking closed position.

Just Okay

First thing to go on this knife for me was the lockback broke, it stayed in place and managed to still lock. I carried this knife in a pouch on a fanny pack for light days. It does do well on cord and other little things. The next to go was the thumb guide, which is a screw drive, that came off.

Great design, poor tool.

I like the feel, and the big circle which is great for placing a finger or a carabiner, but it is very difficult to open and close.
This is what made me put this in the back of my list of knives to grab.
Sorry I would say do not get it.

Nice for small projects

I have used this knife a lot at work to open large boxes and cut plastic containers. It has worked great for small jobs like that but I can't really see it working much past that. Nice condensed size to clip to something or keep in a pocket.
