This hat is light weight and super awesome. By awesome, I mean that it is super cheap for what you are getting. light weight, good at blocking the sun, eye catching, cool looking.
I accidentally bent the brim the wrong way and with some magic I quickly moved it back into place and i haven't noticed any problems with the brim.
I enjoy the fabric of the hat, a combination of mesh and a highly woven cover. I suggest taking this on trips when it is not moist/ wet/ damp/ soaking/ downpour/ sprinkle/ watery, because the top is open and the only real protection you would get is in your eyes, no top protection, more for venting, which is why it is super great for running.
I run XC for my high school and will wear this hat on those sunny shirtless days, I dont really like wearing my sunglasses while i run because i feel like it wobbles and bounces on my face. Hats stick better to your head and does not impede your vision as much. Great hat for the cheap price, good Baseball cap, I also plan on taking this up mountain climbing like Mt. Rainer.
This is the second OR Swift cap that I have bought. I have the khaki one (the tan coloured one) for the wilderness, and a blue one for when I prefer a more pleasing appearance around town, at the park, or wherever else.
They are well-fitting, light, breathable, and have a sensibly sized peak. The fact that the cap has mesh all the way under the solid top panel is the cause of great ventilation and breathablity. The solid panel is kept off the head, and this also aids in preventing sun-induced fatigue.
The comment in another review that the strap dangles is not a problem, because the strap actually has a purposely designed channel on the other side for the strap to slide in to. It can be hard to see and easy to miss, but this makes it seamless once the strap is tucked away.
I used to wear a surplus boonie cap with a full brim when I went on 3-season hikes/camping. Picked up this cap on a whim and it immediately became my go-to cap. It is significantly lighter, breathes well, and packs down to almost nothing. The fabric even seems to be some what water repellent. In a gentle drizzle, I noticed the water was beading rather than soaking in.
I have the dark olive green color, and love it for being in the woods. Will probably snag a blue for use around the city where color coordination is a bit more important.
Kind of hard to get too effusive over a hat but, for me, this is hands down the best hiking cap I've ever owned.
I'm in SoCal and even though we have big boy ranges and snow; a cap is what I'll wear on the trail nine months out of the year. This hat is crazy light, durable, allows for some ventilation and is low-profile. It also cleans up really well and has a cool 'hiker' look.
You won't go wrong with pulling the trigger on this one.
First, let me say this is a great cap idea. It does a great job at letting air flow. The problem is the sizing. I have it sized all the way down and it is still a little loose in the wind. I wear a medium in other OR hats, but this is swimmingly large. I'm looking at replacing the strap design with Velcro, hopefully that will allow me to adjust it to an appropriate size.
I have two Swift Caps and love 'em so much I bought a third. This Swift Cap looks similar, but on closer inspection it is a slightly smaller cap. It still says one size fits all, but this is not so. The other caps fit me fine. This new cap is a skull cap. Less fabric on top with a longer tail at the back. Very disappointing!
