Outdoor Research Swift Hat Reviews:

Positive Reviews:

Best baseball-style cap ever

I wore out my last Swift hat after years of constant use, and I liked it so much that I bought two for myself and one each for my wife and two school-age sons.

I wear it hiking/camping, at the pool, on the water, around town and the house, etc. I used to wear a hat only sometimes, but I like this hat so much, I wear it almost daily.

The hat is comfortable and light. In hot weather it breathes like a champ. I've worn it from the 100s to as cold as the upper 20s, and it's great. (It's not warm, but breathes well when you're breaking a sweat in the cold.)

The nylon front panel does a great job of stopping wind and rain. Though it's not waterproof, water does bead on it, and it's my rain hat of choice when it's too warm and humid for my Seattle Sombrero. Yes, my head eventually gets wet, but much less than I would've thought considering the time (hours) and amount of rain. It dries quickly too.

It adjust easily, so it can fit an adult or a school-age child.

My only complaint is that my last khaki hat developed sweat stains after a hot summer, and I couldn't get the stains out. I don't know yet if the other colors stain. But that's a quibble, since my traditional baseball caps get stained too eventually.

Bottom line: it the best baseball-style cap made for active people.

This hat is light weight and super awesome. By awesome, I mean that it is super cheap for what you are getting. light weight, good at blocking the sun, eye catching, cool looking.
I accidentally bent the brim the wrong way and with some magic I quickly moved it back into place and i haven't noticed any problems with the brim.
I enjoy the fabric of the hat, a combination of mesh and a highly woven cover. I suggest taking this on trips when it is not moist/ wet/ damp/ soaking/ downpour/ sprinkle/ watery, because the top is open and the only real protection you would get is in your eyes, no top protection, more for venting, which is why it is super great for running.
I run XC for my high school and will wear this hat on those sunny shirtless days, I dont really like wearing my sunglasses while i run because i feel like it wobbles and bounces on my face. Hats stick better to your head and does not impede your vision as much. Great hat for the cheap price, good Baseball cap, I also plan on taking this up mountain climbing like Mt. Rainer.

comfort is key

This is a lightweight, highly breathable, comfortable to the point of feeling non existent cap. Low profile style, no excess room up top (coming from a shaved head)so factor that in if you need room for your afro. The back closure is effective and simple allowing you to conceal excess into a slotted hole. Sun protection without smothering your noggin. This is a whole new world coming from a long line of heavier weighted hats and I don't think I'll be looking back(except for winter, of course.)The style is clean, craftmanship is excellent and you can tell by the photo if you like how it looks. Not a fan of logos but I'll put up with the simple OR, and enjoy this hat. Can't speak for long term durability as of yet, because mine's fairly new.

Swift Caps: Great design and fit

Works well under my bicycle helmet. Under my poncho -- keeps heavy rain out of my eyes. Shades my eyes from over head light during both indoor and outdoor video shoots. Soft and sturdy folds to fit in my pocket when not on my head.

I am thrifty and wish that if I bought twelve the thirteenth would be free. ;-) The design meets my diverse needs -- I own four of this model.

Good so far.

I have enjoyed the hat so far. only have had it a few weeks. it replaced a hat I had been wearing for six years or so. so of course its just not the same... Didnt realize that the whole hat is mesh with another layer of colored fabric over it, but not sewn down, so there is more venting. functional, but makes parts of the hat "stick up" a little. besides that, great hat.

The perfect hat !

I live in a very warm/humid climate & use this hat when I go running outdoors. The top green nylon part keeps the sun off of my head, and the sides where it is mesh, lets my head breathe. It is a very lightweight hat. I usually have trouble finding a hat where the sides come right down to my ears, but not with this hat ! It fits my head perfectly !

Great hat, very functional

Bought this hat for a backpacking trip in Yosemite. Needed something super light weight and quick drying to keep the sun off my face at high altitudes.Hat is all these things and more. Very lightweight, comfortable, breathable and cool in hot weather. Perfect for people that are active outdoors and do not want a full brim hat. I would say this hat is more functional than it is stylish, in my opinion.

Great hat

This is a great hat as you might expect from Outdoor Research. There is a complete mesh layer and then a narrower fabric layer across the top from brim to back (perfect for us balding guys). Light, breathable, and stylish. Very nice how the adjustable strap lies inside the hatband. Pull the loose end out, adjust the hat, and then thread it back into the hatband.

Great Warm Weather Cap

This design just works - I have several of these and have owned them for years without problems. Fits well and has a nice design for hot weather! The buckle in back is a nice detail - I appreciate not having to thread my pony tail thru the hole and like that there is no velcro/hook and loop to get your hair caught in.

Great Hat

I am active duty military and I primarily use the hat to do physical training while off duty. I usually wear a hat while running outside to keep the sun off my bald head and this is the only hat that is vented enough to not get soaked with sweat. It is extremely light weight and well made. Thanks for the great product.

Negative Reviews:

First, let me say this is a great cap idea. It does a great job at letting air flow. The problem is the sizing. I have it sized all the way down and it is still a little loose in the wind. I wear a medium in other OR hats, but this is swimmingly large. I'm looking at replacing the strap design with Velcro, hopefully that will allow me to adjust it to an appropriate size.

I have two Swift Caps and love 'em so much I bought a third. This Swift Cap looks similar, but on closer inspection it is a slightly smaller cap. It still says one size fits all, but this is not so. The other caps fit me fine. This new cap is a skull cap. Less fabric on top with a longer tail at the back. Very disappointing!

Neutral Reviews:

I like this hat

My first impression of the hat was it had a good design. I was especially excited to see that to tighten the size of the hat, to fit my melon sized head, there is a convenient drawstring in the rear. As I usually wear a hat on my morning run, I have buddied up with it on a half of dozen runs so far and enjoyed wearing it. I have noticed that the hat keeps my head a little warmer than I am used to. I believe this is due to the dome of this hat being larger than my old PearlIzumi running hat. However this may not be so noticeable in cooler weather. While I enjoy the morning sun, the brim of the hat does an excellent job of keeping my eyes protected. I am looking forward t

Small

I normally wear a Large size in Outdoor Research hats. This hat would not fit me without looking like I was wearing a kids hat. I ended up giving it to one of my kids to wear. Nice hat, just too small for me.

Great hat but obnoxious lime color

Stays on while running, kayaking, etc.Nice and breathable. Adjust well even for my small noggin.
