Altra created the Women's Torin Running Shoe so you can run with the best technique and the highest level of comfort. Capable of covering miles of pavement or trail, this zero-drop shoe stands apart from the masses of 'natural' running shoes thanks to the its foot-shaped profile. This unique profile cups your heel allowing your toes to relax and spread out, and as a result, it helps maintain a proper foot position that helps to reduce forefoot pain and excessive pronation. On top of this, you get 15mm of soft cushioning and a fit specifically contoured to match a woman's foot from heel to toe (no shrink-it-and-pink-it here). Slide your foot inside the Torin and get the stability, cushioning, and stride-smoothness you need for daily running or cross training.
Experience a cushioned, comfortable run with the Torin™, Altra's highly cushioned neutral training shoe. Two-layer AltraBound™ cushioning returns energy back into each stride and reduces impact on hard surfaces. The well-cushioned ZeroDrop™ platform and foot-shaped toe box work together for natural foot positioning. This combination places your places your heel and forefoot the same distance from the ground and allows proper toe splay to help you run the way you were born to. Run with relaxed feet, less impact and better technique with the Torin.

I was suffering from multiple problems as a beginner runner. I'm sure that my stride and foot strike were totally incorrect, but I also had shin splints, knee pain and hip discomfort. The first day on these new shoes, I shaved 15 seconds off a mile and from step one, have had no pain whatsoever. My shin splints are completely gone. Today I shaved off another minute or so from my mile (this was my 10th-ish run on them). My stride is more consistent and my feet don't hurt at all. I really love these shoes!
The shoe is lightweight, but offers a good deal of cushion. It has a wide toe box, which seems to be helpful if you suffer from plantar fasciitis. One downside is that it does not offer much traction for trail running, but I'm sure Altra has other models which would be more suitable. Still, I highly recommend it.
