When you are the Arc'teryx Men's Beta AR Pant, life is pretty dang good. You relish in the fact that you are an elite snow pant that can take whatever hellish winter conditions your owner or the world can throw at you. No biggie. You were made with a three-layer Gore-Tex Pro Shell, so you guarantee waterproof protection and breathability. The N40r-X fabric seals out any adverse weather, while being supple and notably soft to the touch. On the hard-wearing areas in the seat, bottom legs, and knees Arc'teryx placed the N80p-X fabric to offer extra protection and durability. This pant is fully seam sealed with micro-seam allowance that reduce bulk and weight and improve breathability, so your base layers will remain nice and dry.
To further keep out the elements, you, the almighty ski pant that you are, have 3/4 length WaterTight side separating zipper, which doubles by being easy to remove over boots and crampons. A trim athletic fit with articulated shaping delivers mobility. Then there's the elastic waist with adjustable front closure, the Keprotec instep patch to protect against edges, crampons, and boots, and the Cordura powder cuff to keep the snow out. Yep, you've got it all.
The men's Arc'Teryx Beta AR Pant is focused on streamlined performance with minimal weight and bulk, these lightweight GORE-TEX Pro Shell pants are the ultimate in packable four-season protection. Built tough with reinforced knees, seat, and lower legs, they also feature Keprotec instep patches to guard against crampons, ski edges and boots. A trim athletic fit with articulated shaping delivers mobility and powder cuffs keep snow at bay.
The Arc'Teryx Beta AR Pants are the only men's pants in the GearX inventory made from GORE-TEX® Pro Shell fabric, which makes them the go-to choice for serious mountaineers and backpackers who demand the ultimate in waterproofness and durability. They're made from a mix of lighter 40 denier and heavier 70 denier Pro Shell that balances packability with durability in different wear zones, and are further protected by armor-like Schoeller® Keprotec™ reinforcements at the ankles which resist cuts from crampons, ski edges and boots. A trim athletic fit with articulated shaping delivers mobility and powder cuffs keep snow at bay.

I purchased the latest Beta AR Pants in August when they came out. Today 30/12/13, they saw their first proper use. I went up Helvellyn. It rained, and rained, and snowed. Within 2 hours they had wet out around my groin (fly zipper was up). By the time i reached my car (3.5 hours), enough water had soaked into my trousers, which fried my mobile phone, which was in my pocket. Nice one Arcteryx!
Why did they fail? They are BRAND NEW. They shouldn't need treating.
You state 'guarantee waterproof protection'.
Notice the key word WATERPROOF. I purchased these expecting to be kept dry. I think this is called 'misleading'.
Arcteryx are good at one thing, its called Marketing. Don't be drawn in by it, because the Arcteryx bubble is an expensive bubble to burst.
If these were full side zips I would get them...whats the deal Arc'teryx? No full side zip gore-pro pant? Yeah you can get them over your boot/crampon. But you can't put them on standing up let alone with a pair of skis on. Think. There is better stuff out there, all the gore-tex stuff comes from the same factory in china anyway.
