I Absolutely Love These!
I absolutely love these hikers!
I bought them late last winter when we had a cold snap in Texas thinking I needed something more sturdy to keep in my closet just in case. I didn't think I'd actually use them much.
Little did I know we would move farther north in Texas this fall and it would be a very cold winter here. I've been wearing these almost daily for the past six weeks or so and absolutely love them.
At first these did feel heavy on my feet because I wasn't used to wearing hikers. I typically wear flip flops in the summer and lighter-weight shoes in the winter. But once I got used to that, I fell in love with them. Even with the sturdier weight, they never make my feet or legs feel tired.
They are so warm and sturdy and never seem to get a stain on them. They're so comfortable that I sometimes wear them around the house. We usually try to remember to take our shoes off when we come in to keep germs and dirt out, but these are so comfortable that sometimes I just don't take them off.
I bought them in 7.5, which is my normal size, and felt like they were a little big when I first got them but didn't want to return and go through all that so I figured I'd just go with it. I thought I'd have to wear two pair of socks, but once I got started wearing them I've been fine with one pair and they feel fine.

Loved these boots!
I got these right before leaving on a trip - usually a foolish thing to do - but these fit like a glove from day one with no break-in required. I can honestly say I've never had that feeling from another shoe! In "normal" work shoes I wear a 7.5 but in running shoes usually an 8. I ordered 8 in these and, as I said, they fit perfectly.
The color tan was not so beautiful but not terrible - just okay. There is a certain bulky, bulbous look to them and they would probably look odd with capris or shorts but with long pants they are fine. But super supportive on uneven ground and no rubbing, no fit issues -- I can overlook their slightly less than fashionable appearance! Really love them.
Sturdy Striders
These definitely require some break in around the house with loose laces before taking them out for a walk. But a couple of these sessions, tightening the laces incrementally as you go you should be good. I got these just before Sandy hit (inland fortunately but still enough wind to bring down lots of big trees on the street) and I ended up having to do more schlepping in the gathering storm than I'd planned on, but these got me through the mess just fine. Even when I parked in a big deep puddle. Have since used this in the snow when it's not too deep and they've been great for that too.
And yes, the color is too warm to properly be gray. It's more a light tan.

Sturdy Hiker
I love my Danner's! The grey color is misleading in the picture though. The real thing is more a beige/grey (more beige than grey) with a lavender/purple accent on the lace. Also the shoe is VERY stiff when it arrives. There will be a break-in period, so plan for it. I need to wear these with thicker hiking socks to fit well, because there is a lot of room in the shoe - in the instep area, and it is semi-wide. But I have a narrow foot. The tread is very good, and has held up excellently in the snow and ice we have recently got here in Illinois. Don't plan on this being a comfortable sneaker fit, plan on a sturdy hiker with significant break-in needed.
Very sturdy
I like these shoes. Very sturdy, heavy soles and good traction. I didn't buy them for hiking, just more because I wanted to have a pair of good, solid, sturdy shoes in my closet and not just those decorative things I wear on my feet that wouldn't be of any use in a cold weather/natural disaster/emergency type situation. These are great and I can see myself wearing them just to run around town during our short, but sometimes cold winters here. Some of the reviews made me think these would run small, but on my feet they run big and wide. It's okay, though. I will buy some insoles and wear thick socks. The "grey" color is really light beige as others have said.
Great boots; great value.
I have to agree with all the comments so far. This is a really sturdy, comfortable low hiker with a lot of support and they are a great deal for the price. I have a narrow heel and a wide forefoot (for a woman)- generally I take a "D" width. These shoes in my normal size are just slightly tight in the toes. I will send these back and get a 1/2 size bigger, then buy an inexpensive liner to get the fit I want.

Bought for my wife! She loves them!
Bought these for my wife to wear around the farm. I knew Danner made good products but were usually too expensive. These were on sale so thought I'd give them a try. She LOVES them! Major point score for me!!! :-). She says they are the most comfortable shoe she has ever worn. They appear to be holding up very well and actually look pretty good on her. She's happy, so I'm very happy!

I would by this product again
I bought these for winter landscaping and they're doing a great job keeping me feet warm and dry. I followed the advice of previous raters and ordered a 1/2 size bigger than I normally wear and they fit perfectly! Not hard to break in, but the right shoe squeaks when I walk which is a bit annoying. Other than that they are great and would buy them without hesitation.

Love these shoes
I bought these shoes to wear while working on concrete floors in a plant nursery, frequently watering plants. They are waterproof, durable, and attractive shoes. Athletic shoes would have lasted about 2 weeks there. So far I have no complaints and am glad I bought them. I did buy them a half size larger than my normal size. I have narrow feet but they fit fine.
Fashionably sporty and stout
These were purchased for my daughters. As a family, we have enjoyed the dependable durability of Danner footwear over the years. As a duty boot on US street, in the mountains of Afghanistan, on the trails and in the hills of the Midwest and Southeast. You can always count on Danner. They may be initially stiff and a tad heavy...but they last...and they look good.
