Keen Alamosa WP Reviews:

Positive Reviews:

These are the only shoes that my son does not destroy in two weeks. He got his first pair of keens at age four and he has been getting one pair per year since. For those who think I am spoiling my kid these are the only sneakers/adventure shoes that he gets for the year. They are the only shoes that has lasted that long. Reeboks lasted two weeks before falling apart. North Face sneakers lasted a month. Walmart shoes last days. The leather is waterproof. Obviously keens have holes everywhere so I would not recommend these for Seattle or the Amazon rainforest. My son wears these hiking, rock climbing, biking, gym class, playground, and all day in school and they still lasted all year! He wears these shoes every single day. He says they are comfortable and he is not excited to learn to tie shoe laces, so he likes Keens. Have I mentioned that I love these shoes? I bought two pairs of the same shoes for two girls ages three and five. The three year old could not get them on despite loosening of laces. The five year old loves them.

My son is so very hard on shoes. He has torn the toe off other shoes in days. As a result, I was hesitant to spend this much on shoes for him. I knew that Keen shoes have strong toes (he has worn Keen sandals in the past) so I took a chance. These shoes are well worth the money. It has been 6 weeks and the toe of the shoe is hardly worn. I would recommend these for kids who are hard on shoes without hesitation.

really great shoes

My son wears these shoes every day for school and play. He has had his current pair of Keens for 7 months and I have already purchased the next size up for when he out grows them. I don't see any signs that the shoes are wearing out, so I expect to have use of them until they get too small. My son has slightly wide feet and these shoes have been comfortable from day 1.

my kids love this shoe!

I bought these shoes on discount sale and am convinced they are the best shoes ever for my kids! Perfect for slip-on-and-run and for the NW rain & puddles they inevitably stomp in. I'm buying the next size up at full price...they are that good! Very comfy & durable sole and uppers.

Tough Shoes for my Little Man

My son has really enjoyed these shoes and seems to be going a little farther since we purchased them. He used to complain about his feet hurting when hiking over rocks and uneven terrain, but no more. I would recommend these to anyone with a little one.

Great shoe for active kids

These are great shoes for children. I got my 5 year old son a pair and they worked so well we got my oldest son a pair as well.
Great shore that wear well. The dark colors are nice as stains are not as visible.

Second year in a row for these shoes for my boys. Moved to Oregon where it rains for months on end and kids feet were dry every day. Love them and Zappos for their prompt shipments and excellent customer svc.

Will Buy Again and Again

My mother-in-law bought these for my son for kindergarten last year and they lasted the entire year and into the summer, he would keep wearing them but he is ready for the next size up!

Very good shoe

I keep buying these shoes for both of my very active boys and they last until the next size up, w/ daily use. Only bummer is the back of the inside heal has worn out.

good shoe

typical excellent Keen quality and durability. minor point: difficult for my 5 year old to step into, even with lace loose. requires my assistance to put on.

Negative Reviews:

Heel cup too stiff

We bought this shoe for our 3 year old who likes to hike trails with us (for limited time periods). These were way more expensive than we anticipated paying for a 3 year old's shoe but struggled to find a rugged shoe with a good sole that would last an entire summer.

The shoe is very difficult to put on because it is so stiff. My son can put on his shoes but couldn't come close with these. I felt like I was going to hurt him getting his foot into the heel cup it was so stiff. The U-shaped top of the heel cup dug into his leg on either side of achilles leaving bruises after only one use.

Dissapointed

My 7 year old son hates tying his shoes so I got him the Keens with the pull tie. He loved them and they were working great--good traction, comfortable, looked good and appeared durable. Granted my son is tough on shoes but two months in the laces look like they are about to tear and the top cloth loop on one shoe has completely peeled off. This makes it impossible to lace tightly. All of the top lace loops look ready to go. Besides the laces and top loops the shoes look like new. Too bad b/c this one fault makes an otherwise sturdy shoe unwearable.

Neutral Reviews:

Good but not great.

My son tried a pair of these out this past year. Overall good shoes although they wore out faster than other brands that we have bought. The stitching that holds the lacing/webbing system together seems to be the major weak point. They did go on several backpacking trips and lots of day hikes, were worn to school on wet days, and even did some rock climbing so, can't say they weren't good shoes.

I buy many Keens for my children and myself. We love them! My son just came home from school complaining his feet were wet wearing these shoes. It didn't even rain today but the ground was wet from yesterday's rain. These shoes are supposed to be water proof. I spent extra money for them to be water proof. Not too happy.
