I've had this for nearly three years now and I've completely loved it. It has been my go-to piece for cooler days (without too much wind) and has been great as a midlayer on freezing days. I've used it for: casual use, rowing, cycling, hiking, skiing and snowboarding. I just love the freedom of movement it offers, its moisture wicking ability, the warmth it gives, and how fast it dries. I'm now onto my second pair and I know this piece will continue to be a part of my wardrobe for many years to come.
Use this for comfy cold-weather running from the 20s to 40s - a wind-break vest or light shell is all that is needed for the colder temps. Had to size down one size to get a form fit, but fits almost perfect. Maybe an inch longer sleeve length would make it perfect. Good base layer for colder-weather backpacking as well.
This base layer is great. I almost avoided it based on Jonas's review below. Glad I went ahead and bought. Fits great and does NOT ride up my back like the guy the in the pics below says his does. Sleeve length is perfect for my XL TALL frame and super comfortable.
Hip Hurrah!! This top can't be animal tested whatsoever.. I'm thinking of specific mammal here, namely the two legged homo with glasses.
I'm also convinced that it has not been taylored to any other kind of mammal, as the square-torsoed ones are non existent.
Arms are good and long, and the fabric is light, very stretchable and warm for it's weight. It's also very comfortable against the skin.
However, it's too short to be used as a base layer, and I also prefer my mid-layer to not give glitches if I raise my arms (look at picture).
If they actually had made it long enough in the back and slimmer around the waist, this would have been one mean top... With those two flaws however, it falls short of being a top notch product.
Explanation to photo.
Upper left: what I regard as a pretty average athletic upper body; 186cm (6'2") and 82 kg (180ibs)
Upper right: Please note both the glitch and the space it leaves around the lower part of my upper body. This fleece is not at all athletic fitted.
Lower left: A proper length for a base (and mid-layer if you ask me). Illustrated by a Devold wool top (My go to product for wool).
Lower right: again, showing the so called "athletic fit" which appears to be a square..
PS; This review is for last years model. I chose to post it, since there were none for this product, and they look the same.
I love it when it comes to fit and comfort and function, but....it seems to be showing a lot of wear only after one season. I felt like my cloudveil run don't walk held up much better. It is starting to experience polling in high wear areas and it kind of sucks. Still functional but Not excited about it.
