The wet weather of coastal mountain ranges have been the historical nemesis of down insulation, but the Mountain Hardwear Kelvinator Jacket uses Q.Shield water-resistant down, which maintains its loft even in high humidity or extremely damp conditions. You get the warmth-to-weight ratio that makes down the go-to insulator without its usual susceptibility to moisture.
Large baffles hold generous amounts of down in place to prevent cold spots, while fully elastic cuffs team up with dual hem drawcords to seal out chilly air. Hand-warmer pockets keep your hands toasty, and the lightweight 20D ripstop fabric cuts weight and makes this jacket easy to pack.

Backcountry Edge

Mountain Hardwear Kelvinator Jacket Review:

Reviews:

I purchased the Kelvinator jacket from Backcountry.com recently and can highly reccommend this product. It has a full cut; the drawcord and zippers are good quality; everything is sewn beautifully; and the ripstop nylon makes the jacket feel almost weightless. As far as the water-resistant down goes, I cannot attest to how well that works yet. But I can say this jacket has a very generous amount of down fill, is warm as can be, and looks and feels great.
