A Decent Snowshoe

Let me state up front: I'm a rank snowshoe beginner. I've used snowshoes but once per year for backpacking the Berks or the L-T on a January weekend with old friends. Always rented MSR Denali shoes for the few trips but couldn't pass up a great sale on these shoes.
Initial set up of the bindings is tricky but once set to your boots, they are easy on/easy off and secure. And you might want to use the instep strap for added security on steeper or off camber terrain.
They excel on established, broken trail under a heavy pack. Breaking trail under a pack is some effort. Except on hard/real ice the traction is outstanding, even off camber. Flotation is lacking in deep, loose snow, the tails help but don't overcome the inadequate flotation of the narrow rigid plastic decks. OTOH, it is easy to manoeuvre these under a heavy pack on tight trails, around (thru!) tree-falls or other obstructions. On sustained uphill sections of trail, the televators really shine.
Unburdened by a pack, you can fairly run and dance in them. They're perfect for day trips, minimizing post holing in bare boots.
They're keepers!

Been looking into getting snowshoes for a while and finally pulled the trigger on these. They fit perfectly, with the main front strap being a little tough to adjust initially, but working well once it was all squared away. The adjustability of the other straps is excellent and this makes sizing the shoes really simple.
The traction from the rails and the front teeth is out of this world! I do a lot of off-trail shoeing, going up some rather steep hills and slopes. These shoes hold like there's no tomorrow! I WOULD recommend the tails for these if there's any decent amount of powder, as even without a pack I sink in a decent amount (I'm only 155 lbs). Consequently, tails are on the way!
Overall, I'm VERY happy with these shoes and would recommend them to anyone who's looking to get a pair of snowshoes!

Great for all skill levels

I use this snowshoe for trails throughout a local snow park and it gets me anywhere I want to go. I see a lot of older MSR shoes on my fellow snowshoers and expect this shoe to last me many seasons. It takes some time to adjust the toe strap to one pair of boots, but once that is done, the shoe goes on easly and secures with just the heel strap. Don't need the instep strap so I removed it. I like being able to add floatation size to the shoe with a tail piece if necessary. One shoe works in more types of snow.

I have these and I like their toughness and versatility. The bindings allow you to put them on considerably quicker than others that require 3-4 bindings. I have heard that the complexity of other binding systems allow for a more snug fit, but I have not had any problems, especially since it comes with an optional third binding that you can detach. My only complaint is that you REALLY have to becareful that you don't lose the clip for the optional binding cause it get lost. I wish it had a better way to attach, however i guess that wouldn't make it an optional binding.

MSR EVO Tour perfect for ADK trails

I've used the MSR Denalis for years and loved them. I bought these for the televator feature. It was worth the investment. With 5 knee surgeries behind me, the stress relief the televators provide on prolonged steep grades was great. The televators go into position easily and once I began using my poles and boot heel to lower them they also retracted easily. The ADK trails are typically well packed and this time were icy in many spots. These snowshoes are perfect for these conditions. The new step in bindings worked great. The shoes went on and off quickly and never came loose.

Evo Tour Review

Overall, I can't complain a bit about these shoes. They were priced absolutely Right, and will hold up for years. The one think about them is the quick strap is a little tricky to work with. I think once I get it set and have a specific boot that I shoe in, it will be alright. I think I just need to give it time for the strap to loosen up a bit. I would give it a thumbs up for anyone that is looking for a pair of shoes. I much prefer the composite over the aluminium design.

I was a little hesitant to buy snowshoes that weren't "women specific," as I'm pretty small (5'6'', 115), but these are great! The bindings adjust to my feet perfectly, they are easy to get on and off, and they have great float in powder. I didn't buy the extra tails, and might look into that for serious backcountry snow shoeing, but for everyday taking the dog on a romp off trail, these are amazing!

Comfortable and easy to use

Great price on a versatile MSR snowshoe. The Evo Tour has the heel lifter (televator) which I find to definitely help on steep hill climbs. Though the initial adjustment of the front strap is not intuitive, once done, you don't have to adjust it again. Very nice. Rear straps are similar to other MSR snowshoes. Nice having the removable tails. Usually don't need the extra weight or length. Glad I bought them!

MSR snowshoes

Every hiker encountered on an Adirondacks High Peaks hiking expedition wore MSR snowshoes. That is a pretty good indication that these snowshoes are the standard for serious hikers.
