The North Face Mountain Light Jacket Reviews:

Reviews:

I went to the North Face store and tried some jackets on to get the best feel for what I wanted as well as fit. Found the jacket I wanted then went on backcountry.com where a live sales person found me almost exactly what I was looking for (since some on here are "out of season"compared to whats in the stores). This jacket fit the bill. It was shipped in 2 days as promised. It is perfect! I'm 5'9" and 145 lbs. I went with a Medium but could have gone with the small if not for sweatshirts. But you don't need a sweatshirt under this jacket! It's 100% wind and waterproof. I've been nothing but comfortably warm in this jacket. Even with 0 degree windchill all I wanted was gloves. My ONLY wish is that the waist was made just slightly more for a woman's shape. A male colleague asked if it was a man or woman's coat. (Maybe he was jealous?). So it is just a bit "frumpy" and shapeless but I'd rather be warm. Furthermore, the long neck and hood really come in handy on those blustery days. Removable hood is a plus. Great for light to moderate activity outdoors :)

Warm!

When I got this in the mail, I almost sent it back! I thought there was no way a jacket with no zip-in liner would be warm enough. How wrong I was! I can't believe how ridiculously warm this jacket is. I bought it a little large (and found it runs pretty big), thinking I would have to layer up. Even walking the dog at -10F, I don't need any more than a long-sleeve t-shirt and this jacket. Even then, sometimes I have to open the pit-zips. I haven't tested it out in extreme weather yet (not enough snow to go out and play!), but did wear it to town on a couple -40F wind chill days, and it kept me nice and toasty. Too warm to walk around the grocery store! It articulates beautifully, doesn't hinder movement at all. It's not bulky, and is super-light. It's a bit long, but I like my jackets long enough to cover my butt. The brown has a white lining, not black. I would've rather had the black lining.

Perfect

It fits my needs perfectly. Warm without making me sweat (and I get sweaty!). I walk my dogs 3x a day, even when it's -5F outside. I stay warm and the pit-zip feature allows me to air out a little when I need to. My last winter coat was warm but very heavy and bulky- this jacket can fit in my glove box. I truly thought it would be too thin to prevent me from feeling the chill of a strong wind but I was wrong. Now I just need a pair of pants to match!
