The North Face Thunder Jacket -
Reach for The North Face Women`s Thunder Micro Down Jacket when you need an extra layer of warmth to combat the frigid winter air. Its 800-fill down insulation keeps your core toasty, while the Thunder`s compressible design allows it to stow easily in its own hand pocket when you ski tour or snowshoe. Natural down is the warmest, lightest, and most compressible insulation available, but when it gets wet it clumps, stops insulating, and takes a long time to dry. The North Face uses an exclusive water-resistant treatment to solve this problem. 800 WRD, the down used in the Thunder jacket, stays dry 17 times longer than untreated down and maintain 100% of its loft when wet. The athletic fit makes it easier to layer a shell over the Thunder for really cold weather. The North Face finished the Thunder with two zippered hand pockets, elastic at the cuffs to comfortably seal out draft, and a low-profile cinch cord at the hem that allows you to customize the fit.

Positive Reviews:

I had not seen this jacket in person and ordered based on reviews and research. I received it within 2 days from Zappos with exceptionally fast shipping. Initially, I was underwhelmed with the looks of the jacket. It was so light weight and couldn't be a pricey jacket. However, I tried it on and it fit very well. I am 5'7" 130 pounds and purchased the medium. The sleeve length is longer than most and felt great! The jacket is tapered and slimming but is not restrictive in any way. I can easily wear a thick sweater under this jacket. Next I wanted to test it out. My husband and I walked in 32 degree weather and I wore only a long sleeved tee underneath. I added TNF fleece scarf, gloves, and hat and walked approximately 2.5 miles. I can honestly say that this jacket kept me warm! No wind goes through this coat! I also purchased TNF Aconcagua jacket as well. I wanted to have both in order to make my choice. I found the Aconcagua to be a jacket that felt more substantial. The nylon seemed thicker. I was confused as to why it was the cheaper of the 2 jackets. I found it to be tight in the arms and overall uncomfortable. It was an easy choice to keep TNF Thunder! I purchased the black and happy with my choice! And I love Zappos provides free returns so I can easily return the Aconcagua.

I was hesitant about joining the bandwagon and purchasing a North Face jacket. But this arrived just in time to truly test it out in the chill that hit Chicago last week. It fits true to size and with the North Face Thunder Vest as an additional layer, not only has it kept me warm but stylish also! I think there is something to feeling well dressed that helps you deal with these dreary winter months! So essentially I am sold on North Face and I have finally figured out why it seems to be the outer wear of choice here in Chicago. But more importantly I am sold on Zappos! There was a slight glitch in the delivery of my first order from Zappos. Nothing to do with Zappos but they helped make the experience only better! Bravo to a company that not only preaches excellent customer service but lives by it! That is why the Zappos phenomenon is studied by many!

Stylish Warmth!

I did quite a bit of research and window shopping before I got this jacket. I live in Aspen, CO and it can get pretty chilly here. I chose this jacket because I can wear it alone. The other micro jackets are thinner but it's necessary to wear a shell underneath. This one is very flattering and slimming. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the color is not at all like the picture. The true color is like a purpulish- gray/ dark silver. I actually like the color though. If your looking for a warm jacket that doesn't make you look like a giant marshmallow , this us the jacket for you. I'd definitely recommend this to a friend!

This is my wife's go-to jacket for 6 months out of the year in Boise, Idaho. The jacket has an excellent warmth-to-weight ratio and is available in a variety of great colors. The arms are longer than similar jackets in other brands and the overall fit is flattering for a down jacket. She is 5' 6", 118 lbs and wears a size S. She had an issue with the seams ripping in a few places after several years of tough use but TNF replaced the seams without any hesitation. She would absolutely recommend or buy this jacket again.

I ordered this jacket one day and received it the very next day. I find that it is super warm and very, very lightweight. I disagree with other reviewers that said the sleeves were too long. I am a true medium and I order medium and it fit perfectly and the sleeves were just right. As always Zappos was super fast in getting me my merchandise. I live in the Northeast and this jacket is warm enough to wear in really cold weather. Thanks again Zappos for excellent service.

I purchased a black one for myself and a gray one for my daughter in college last year for Christmas. It's our go to jacket! It's so lightweight and love the fact that it stows in it's pocket. It's great for temps in 40's down to the 20's. Only con is this one didn't have a hood for a rainy walk to class. Otherwise it's great, give it 5 stars!

I've had multiple compliments on this coat. The pattern is extremely flattering. I'm tall and skinny and often times find it difficult to find a coat that is long and slender enough with long arms. This coat fits great. It also keeps me warm without being overly puffy. And I absolutely LOVE the color!

My first time to purchase this kind of brand, I am a happy camper to wear such a thing, very light not bulky but warmth. The best jacket ever! And of course, Zappos - you never failed my expectations about your shipping services. Thumbs up to your website. Keep up the good work!

I absolutely love my new jacket, it is VERY light but don't be fooled, it is warm. I have worn it in minus 0 temps, if it is layered with a sweater I can stay outside sliding with grandkids until they get tired.
Pattie D - customer at Zappos.com on 01/20/2014

I got my mom this jacket for Christmas, she wanted something very warm yet packable. She wears this jacket all the time and says that so far it has done everything of it she would expect or want.

Negative Reviews:

This jacket is not warm unless you wear a shell over it. Super cute and looks great, would be good for a early spring jacket but not the dead of winter like it is right now. Def not warm enough for 15 degree weather :-/ I returned and purchased the NorthFace Boundary which is amazing!

Neutral Reviews:

this jacket is adorable, however it is lightweight, like a windbreaker. I wanted something more for cold evenings at sporting events etc.
