I thought this would just be a sport climbing harness for me but once I started using it I began to really like its simplicity and fit. It became my favorite harness and I started to wear it all of the time. Amazing how comfortable it is being so light. At this point I have been through a handful of hanging belays with this harness and it was surprisingly not too bad. I have used this harness for mountaineering, ski-mountaineering, alpine climbing, multi-pitch trad and sport climbing and been happy with it in all situations. With four gear loops there is enough room for a fat rack at the creek. Awesome as an alpine harness because of it is lightweight and the fact that it fits so well that you hardly know it is on when hiking or scrambling. It lacks adjustable leg loops which would make it a better alpine harness but that would only add weight. I have had no problem getting this harness on over ski boots. A ski boots with crampons would be tight but you could probably do it carefully. Overall I am super impressed with the versatility of this 'sport climbing' harness.
I love this harness - absolutely love it. It's light and feels good on the send. If I'm sitting in it a bunch though, it will start to hurt around the waist. It has very little padding so it's not very comfortable if your going to sit it it a long time.
If you're a beginner, grab one with more padding.
There is not a loop in the back so I took a piece of para-cord, pulled the core out, and tided the sheath around the back of the waist strap. This way I can clip my chalk bag onto it. Non weight bearing.
Good harness for moderate to advanced climbers.
I picked up this harness when I noticed that taking falls in my Arcteryx R300 was a little less than super comfortable. Its a very good lightweight harness that strikes a perfect balance between comfort and minimalism. Its not great at hanging belays (but that's not what its built for). The 4 gear loops are adequate, but racking anything more than a light rack would not be possible. For a large rack of draws, this thing works just fine.
Although this is marketed as a climbing harness, and I have used it as such, but it has also been put to good use in other ways. As a safety harness for highlining, it provides a soft catch when you decide you're done floating on air.
