Backcountry Edge (2013)

Black Diamond Women's Trail Shock trekking poles incorporate easy-to-adjust external locks, innovative anti-shock mechanisms, textured compact grips and rugged aluminum construction. This combination makes Women's Trail Shock poles a great balance of year-round performance and price.

Black Diamond designed its Trail Shock Trekking Pole specifically for women so you can hike comfortably up and down the mountain. Control Shock Technology absorbs impacts on the ground so your final mile feels as good as the first, and its controlled rebound prevents the pole from bouncing back too much like most poles do. Its aluminum shaft makes the pole lightweight and durable. The foam grip provides a bit of insulation to keep your hand warm during chilly hikes, and its 360° padded webbing strap makes each pole specific to your left and right hands for easy access and extra comfort. FlickLock Pro lets you adjust your poles with ease for easy transport and for the uphills and downhills, and you can switch out the Tech Tips with rubber or carbide tips depending on the terrain you're trekking.

Black Diamond Trail Shock Reviews:

GREAT Trekking Poles!!

Black Diamond is the only brand to buy!! I have owned the BD Trail Shock Trekking Poles for 4 years and hiked/backpacked over 250 miles with them on very rugged terrain. The grips and straps are high quality and comfortable. Very nice shock absorber too. But the reason I bought these pole was the flicklock. I had other telescoping poles where you rotate them to loosen/tighten. Those mechanisms go bad over time (particularly if someone overtightens them), and the poles can be difficult to loosen/tighten (particularly with cold or wet or glove hands). On the other hand, the flicklock is so simple and works easily every time, they will not fail in the field, and they are easy to grip/adjust even in cold. Don't look at any other brand.

Knee Saver!

Tested them extensively on a 10-day Mtn Goat hunt this year. 3 hunters got 3 goats and covered a lot of terrain doing so. We packed many heavy loads down the mountain and these poles were awsome! Very comfortable on the hands and really allowed you to take the shock out of the downhill loads. Never gave these a second thought as a younger man, but wish I'd had the wisdome at 30 to invest in my knees with a set of trekking poles! The locking mechanism is rock solid and easy to adjust as needed, even with cold hands. Definately recommend these to any hardcore back-country hunters...
