I have used this pan a few times frying up sausage or bacon for morning breakfast. The nonstick is top notch and weight is on the low side. Surprisenly, this pan is of such low weight as most nonstick pans tend to heat (or burn) quickly unless they are thick in nature. This pan does not do that. The handle folds quite conveniently inside the pan and locks solid.
One potential critique, and always subject to critism, is how long the nonstick will remain. I was able to give the pan a minor scratch to the nonstick but in fairness I was using a stainless steel utensil. This does not warrant a downgrade in my rating due to using a steel utensil.
2012 is the season we go light weight and start pack-in-pack-out trips. I only wanted ONE frying pan to cook meals for my son and I. Although a bit heavier than some other choices it is the "one" pan that will do the job. smaller fish fillets, chix breast, eggs & hash even 8" tortillas for wraps to skillet meals will vook great in this pan! The quality exceeds my expectation. We make a few test meals with my jetboil burner and it will be a joy to make good quality meals in the field. I fully expect to get many years of service from this pan.
No "cons" at this time.
I have the 8" and it is perfect for 1-2 people. I can easily cook up some bacon and egg breakfast sandwiches in the backcountry. And I mean real eggs and bacon. It distributes heat evenly and didn't burn my eggs (cooked with Optimus Crux) and is truly non-stick, washing up easily with Dr. Bronners. I recommend this as a luxury item, as it is a bit weighty and bulky.
I purchased this to mix up our backcountry diet instead of eating dehydrated meals all the time. I ended up with the smaller of the three & it cooks everything I have ever needed. The non-stick works really well, I always bring some butter to 'oil' it up. It looks new still after a lot of use! It is worth every ounce in your pack!
I was amazed with this pan. We forgot butter on or camping trip so had to cook the hotcakes without it :(, even without the butter they didn't stick to the pan at all:)!! The pan heated up nicely and quickly. Cleans up really easy! I often use this at home as well because I like it so much.
worked great for car camping fit we on my optimus hikker stove and cooked great meals for the 6 people that were with me... would recomend this pan to anyone who needs to cook for several campers at a time.
I love this little guy. I own 2 8"'ers. Cooks cleanly and quickly. Doesn't burn any of my food. It is a cinch to clean up, and is non-stick. Handle folds up for storage. I never go camping without them!
this is light enough that I've brought this with me while backpacking, yet it's quality is till high enough that I use this at home as well! Doesn't even really need butter or oil to keep from sticking!
I have 8 inch one.
Light.. not bulky...
Since handle can be folded, it doesn't take much space either.
Also, without oil or butter, the surface doesn't stick with foods which I like~!!!!
