Summit pushes and 4a.m. ascents mean brutally cold temperatures—fend them off with the Mountain Hardwear Hooded Ghost Whisperer Down Jacket. The Ghost Whisperer fabric, created in collaboration with speed mountaineer Ueli Stech, weaves 7D and  10D fibers together to create an ultra-tight ripstop that is windproof, down-proof, and naturally water-resistant. It, and the premium 850-fill down in the jacket, bring the weight of this jacket in under eight ounces, making it the lightest in its category. In addition, the Q.Shield down features a water-repellant coating to maintain loft even in damp conditions, so a punch through misty cloud cover won't ruin your jacket's  ability to keep you warm.
When pre-dawn cold or biting winds drop the temperature, a streamlined hood covers your head, and two zippered hand-warmer pockets shield your hands. The compressible design means the whole jacket fits inside one of the pockets so it's crazy easy to haul.

Mountain Hardwear Ghost Whisperer Hooded Down Jacket Reviews:

Positive Reviews:

I am 5'10 185 lbs. 42 -chest; 33 -arms; 34 -waist; 16.5 -neck . I bought a Large. I can fit this over layers (shirts, sweatshirts, midweights), but it also fits under my shells (Arc Beta AR in M and Marmort Pro Tour in L).
I bought a Patagonia Ultralight Hoody and this at the same time as they were both on sale. Luckily I live in the country with no neighbors because I probably looked pretty goofy going out and doing walking laps in my yard alternating between the two to see which I liked better. My conclusion was that the Ghost Whisperer was better. The temps were about 0-5 F with a light wind and the hood with elastic stays tighter around your head and keeps you warmer. I also felt less air seep through the stitching. I think the Patagonia is better looking and the hood is better looking just as OutdoorGearLab stated. The Pat is the better coat for around town, but the Whisperer is more effective.
The material is light and fragile so I will almost always have it under a shell.

Only negative thing about this jacket is it can described as slightly delicate, and for the price you'd hope it could withstand a good scrape against a wall or from your dog. Like others have said it should mainly be used as a mid layer if you're going to be active.
That being said, it is the best possible everyday winter down jacket you can buy for temps above 0 F with nothing more than a thermal shirt underneath. It blocks ALL WIND: I took it to one of those "hurricane simulators" in the mall and felt nothing. It is fairly waterproof, but I recommend a rain shell to protect the fabric (people get crazy on the streets in a downpour.) The price isn't cheap, so take good care of it. Be prepared to get a TON of compliments on this jacket.
Size is PERFECT. It's very hard to find clothes that fit me well, 6'2 180, my arms are long and my torso isn't. The large fits like a glove.
Can't wait to see what this thing can do on the slopes.

This jacket is incredibly light. I haven't had the opportunity to test it in cold conditions, but I doubt it will have a problem keeping me warm with the 850 fill-power down inside it. Excited to take it out for some cold weather attempts, then I will edit to include my impressions. I am 6'1" 165 lbs, went with a large for arm length. Plenty of room to layer under. Wish it did fit a little bit more trim like the new arcteryx cerium, but this will hopefully still function as well.

Really love the jacket, very light. Good warm/weight ration. Im going to use this jacket as a mid layer under my shell.
Its not the kind of down jacket you will want for your lunch stop in the backcountry or emergency as its more of a mid layer and go to jacket around town.
I also have the hooded phantom jacket which is also amazing, but different from the ghost whisperer
I really love mountain hardwear products
Im 5'11 140lbs Medium fit nicely

Provides exceptional warmth for the weight and thickness. Seems to block all wind, I was in a 25 mph wind with 26' temp at a walking pace and it was prefect with just a light fleece base layer. Hood is very nice to have! Works great under a shell when the going gets rough.

Neutral Reviews:

I ordered this jacket 2 days ago, tracked it with excitement, I walk in from a 12 hour day at work to find my fluffy white package by the door, STOKED! Upon first impression I fell in love with it. Feels great, size medium is a perfect fit (5'10" and 160lbs) its super light weight, ok, this is definatly going with me to Africa. After a thorough inspection I noticed a 1 inch piece of extra thread on the inside shoulder seam, ok, no worry just take care of it now and it will be fine...wrong, I put on the jacket a second time and hear the thread pull of doom from my icebreakers 1/2 zip base layer snagging on this loose string...now, 2 baffles have become one. It is very noticeable from the outside. This is clearly a defective seam.
Update: I took the jacket to a seamstress and she hemmed the baffles back together. I am not happy about that. Otherwise, I love the jacket and have been wearing it in below freezing temps, the last 2 days have been -3 to -8 and with a light jacket over this one I am staying more than warm. I will take this jacket on a three continent travel starting in december. It packs super small with a compression sack (about 4x4 inches. And the weight is unbelievable, feels like nothing in my bag and even better when wearing.
