Backcountry.com

The Mountain Hardwear Fluid 18 Backpack was built for speed and stability in demanding environments. Its mix of lightweight, breathable comfort and locked-down stability is perfect for applications like super-tech terrain or distance trail runs.

Tough, yet lightweight ripstop nylon fabric resists tears from snagged branches and jagged rocks. The hydration sleeve allows you to route the tube from over either shoulder or from the bottom of the pack depending on your preference. Close-fitting suspension allows you to move without feeling your pack swinging around, and a stowable waist belt allows for additional support and security. Venting channels promote airflow to keep your back cool and dry. Finally, the Fluid 18 also has ample pockets to keep your smaller necessities organized, including integrated pockets on the shoulder straps, a stash pocket for easy access to snacks, and a fleece-lined sunglasses pocket to prevent your shades from getting scratched.

Gearx

The Fluid 18 is the perfect pack for technical outings where speed and stability are crucial. It features the OTF (On-The-Fly) compression system; you put the pack on, grab the two dangling straps and pull forward to provide what the company calls "body-mapped-compression," or in less technical terms, it scrunches the load closer to your back for better balance.

Awesome pack!

I used this pack for single day rim to rim in the Grand Canyon and I LOVED IT! I ended up needing to pack about twice as much water due to pipeline breaks in the canyon and even with the added weight it performed very well. I have used the pack for longer runs where I am taking extra water and food. It fits close to the body and wears well even after 24 miles!

Love this pack! Have had many day packs and this one is superb! Have only used it once snowshoeing and it held everything I needed, including my poles. I was specifically looking for a pack with easy mobile access and this one has it. Oh yeah...I am thin and was having trouble finding a pack that fit my shoulders snugly w/o rubbing. This one was it!
Josephine G at Zappos.com on 03/23/2012
It's nice and a little small, but I don't understand where to put the water bottles. Otherwise, it's nice and comfortable.
