When Nike and Danny Kass got together to develop the Nike Zoom DK Snowboard Boot, they created the freestyle shred boot of the future, but they also looked to the past and drew on the legendary Dunk shoe for the Zoom DK's anatomical shape and traditional lacing. It's this nod to the past that gives this boot a skate-shoe-like style and feel.
The synthetic upper features an articulated cuff for ultimate flexibility and comfort. Zoom midsole cushioning absorbs impact while maintaining a low super-low profile to keep your center of gravity tight. Plus, this updated boot is built on the Kaiju last so there is a little more room for your foot to spread out while maintaining a snug, supported feel. Multi-zone tread keeps your sole and the ground working together so you don't slip off the lodge sidewalk.

Wore these boots all summer at Mt. Hood, and while they get the job done, Nike's done better. First off, I like Nike's- I've had the Zoom Force 1's for over a year, and really beat the hell out of them, and they've held out well. And if you were unaware, keep in mind, Nike's generally run a little more narrow than other boots- if you have average or skinny feet, you'll be good, but a wide foot, probably not so much. Unfortunately, but the only advantage I found in these DK's, compared the ZF1's, is the articulated ankle cuff. I liked the addition of that, but I think the ZF1s hold up better. (I still prefer my year old ZF1's to a 3 month old pair of DK's.) I also felt that the toe box in the DKs were smaller, where as in the ZF1s they fit me better. Finally I miss the lace cinch at the ankle on the ZF1s- not a huge thing, but it helped dial in the lacing that little bit more, while keeping traditional laces. Still pretty happy with these DKs. Not as tech-y as the Kaiju's, but a little more to them than the Zooms.
If you love a medium flexing boot, a little on the softer side, check out the Nike DKs. The Kaijus feel a little softer and the Zoom Forces feel a little stiffer. They feature plenty of cushioning that allow you to ride all day in any terrain. My feet have never been more comfortable. I heat molded them and never experienced any discomfort. They are lightweight and they look really good. I love traditional laces and these boots are easy on/easy off with no gadgets to deal with. Nike makes a quality product and stands behind it featuring wonderful customer service. I've been wearing the DKs and the Kaijus every year since they have come out and can't imagine ever wanting to try anything else. Comfortable feet are the most important part of your setup.
