Great Helmet

I have had great luck with this helmet. I read previous reviews and personally have had no issue with the buckle. I don't think this is the most stylish product on the market, but incredibly comfortable and light. I have forgotten to remove it at the end of the day (winter time), it is that comfortable. It does show signs of wear fairly quickly, small nicks and dings from ice climbing and travel. All light weight helmets are basically one use jobs if you take a bit hit, but good to inspect them regularly to see if there any cracks. No question a more traditional plastic helmet will be a lot more durable for day to day use. I use this light one for climbs when I'm trying to save weight or if it is really hot out. Overall I think this is a great helmet and despite being very skeptical initially I have really grown to love it despite looking like a traffic cone!

Get Noticed!

This helmet will get you noticed, whether you want to be or not! So many people comment on the helmet (looks like styrofoam) and ask questions. It's really a great helmet aside from the slightly unusual appearance compared to other standard helmets. Super lightweight and has proven to be surprisingly durable. I've worn this helmet on everything and everywhere from steep rock in the northeast to the big mountains of AK. If you are in between sizes, size up. The magnetic closure is cool but picks up magnetic dirt bits and can become hard to completely close.

Comfortable light weight

I would recommend this helmet to everyone as long as you don't care about looks. It is one of the best helmets I've used once you put it on you forget it's on your head it so light. the strap with the magnet is great all you need to do is get the two ends clos and the magnet pulls the buckle shut
Over all a great helmet

Better than a prison jump suit

You're partner will never be able to lose track of you with this blindingly orange helmet. Your brain will think its protected. Ugly as sin you say? I think it's beautiful.

Negative Reviews:

Not so hot

Great helmet for it's light weight, yet extremely ineffective when the buckle doesn't stay connected while you are climbing. If you are an outdoor climber, this helmet is not for you.

Buckle Issue

Had a really hard time rating this product. On one hand it's:

Pro's:
1) Ultra-lightweight (about as much as your average quick-draw)
2) Breathability (I live in the southeast, and my past helmets have made me sweat to no end. The Sirocco breath so much better than all of them.)
3) From watching the product video it can take a beating so your head doesn't, but...

Con's:
1) SAFETY: The magnetic buckle has a tendency to come undone, and the helmet falls off...
2) SAFETY: The male portion of the buckle also is very very fragile (a thin 1mm piece of plastic at the male pinch portion.) Climbed for 5 days with my brand new helmet, and the buckle had already broken... Luckily, I brought my old helmet (3+ years no problems) to act in its place.

Overall, I really want to use this helmet for all types of climbs (particularly multi-pitch), but the safety margin isn't there with the buckle. I really enjoy Petzl's products - using quite a lot of them myself, and this is the first to disappoint.

*Note: Petzl will send you replacement male buckle and it's easy to replace... I just wish it was better designed.
