Prana Mojo Short Reviews:

Positive Reviews:

I have trashed two pair of mojo's and I am still ordering more. The shorts are super comfy, light, and don't inhibit your movement at all. The waist band is thin enough to not cause any trouble under a harness and the pockets are nice and deep so you can still keep a GU packet in there and it will rest below your leg loops and avoid getting squished.
I would agree with chrp53915 that the sizing can be a little difficult. I am 5'10" with a 32/33 waist and i wear the mediums. I like that the leg length comes down to just above the knee. When I am hiking or climbing the pants do fine, but when I go in town for a beer and I have a wallet, car keys, and a cell phone the weight can cause the waist so slip down a bit.
Great pant, I am sold for life. I also mountain bike, run, hike, backpack, and hit the town in them.

Pretty much awesome for everything

Well, the Kansas summer has set in and the humidity has skyrocketed like it always does. And the Mojo short from Prana has been just the thing. It's light, breathable, and comfortable to start with. That's not enough you say? It's also stylish, fits great, and can be used for just about anything you would ever do short of going to a formal gala. I've been using it to hike, travel, run, do yoga, go to class, and head to the pub. I'll admit, the price tag is a little steep, but Prana does have excellent construction and fit so I think it's worth it. My only complaint is that I usually clip my keys to a belt loop with a carabiner when biking to work which I can't accomplish due this short's lack of belt capabilities. Sacrificing that, though, gives you an extremely comfortable elastic waist that keeps you moving freely whatever you choose to do.

Really comfortable after a day on the trail, around the home, or around town. These are about my favorite lounging shorts. I don't use them much for serious activities, partly because an elastic waist (without a drawstring) is not my favorite big activities and partly because I seem to fall between sizes. With a 32" waist the large is a bit to big and I find the medium too tight (so I have the large). With an elastic waist I can't tighten it down. Large is great for hanging out and fine for walking around with just a wallet, but if I try to carry more in my pockets or am doing more strenuous stuff, they slip around a bit. But this won't be my last pair since for wearing around town or around the camp they are great - really comfortable. And they have a really good variety in colors!

I bought one pair of these shorts after reading the reviews and they lived up to the hype and then exceeded them. I loved wearing them so much I got two more pairs of them. They work great for bouldering and extended climbing trips (both the climbing and relaxing).
Some of the reviews mention the back pocket ripping and a lot of the people I know who own the shorts also have had that problem, however the pair I have had for almost a year has shown no signs of weakness. The rest of the material is also very strong.
I wear a size medium in these shorts and they fit great. I typically wear waist size 32 in other pants/shorts and am 5'9". (The colors shown in the photo are black and corsica)

yoga shorts

I looked for years for shorts to replace the terrific but short and stretchy rock climbing shorts I previously got from REI. The basketball and jogging shorts I bought from them last year just did not stretch enough in some poses.

These stretch and are smooth enough to do lunges and pigeon pose without constantly having to readjust ones pants. They are loose enough and cover enough when inverted to provide adequate modesty but are an inch or so too long for my 5'-10" height.

Wide elastic waist band rolls and does not stay flat. The fabric does not provide enough friction your arm to have traction in some poses like twisting lunges. These are still the best I have found for yoga without using lycra bicycle shorts.
Cox at REI on 02/02/2012

These are great shorts: Deep pockets, athletic fit, back pocket has two velcro patches, waistband is bomber, and the length is above-the-knee for better flex and mobility. They're also light, quick-dry, and versatile.
I'm 6'3 with a 32'' waist and the MED is spot on. A LRG would work better if your waist is 33+''. These shorts do deliver a secure fit for Yoga, climbing, lounging, and the strong, wide waistband will keep you confident and cool when cliff diving into the deep blue below.
If possible, I would've docked half a star because I prefer a zipper over velcro for back pockets, though.
Pictured are my shorts in AUBURN.

Love this short! A fit for fit folk!

Purchased first short in Aspen in a medium size...great fit. Immediately looked to order from Rock Creek buddies. Ordered 8 shorts...same style in medium. Rock Creek delivered promptly without any hassles....par for you guys. However these new shorts were not the same "medium" I had purchased here in my hometown. I returned all the shorts, again without a hassle from RC, and ordered a small in the same style. Voila! They were the "medium" I had purchased here in Aspen. The fitting "medium" had been made in Cambodia. The too big "mediums" were made in China. Go figure. Thanks again for your great Rock Creek Service!
Hogan at Rock/Creek Outfitters on 11/11/2013

I use these shorts for yoga. I am pro mtn bike racing so I have odd dimensions, 6 ft tall with a 31-32 in waste. I first ordered a medium and the length was perfect but the waste band wasn't snug enough to keep them up. I exchanged the mediums for a small and the waste is perfect but they are a little shorter than I prefer.
They are very comfortable shorts and perfect for yoga or any sport that requires freedom of movement. A built in brief would be nice to keep things discreet in the predominately female yoga classes...

Excellent but no bargin

I really like them, but thought they were a bit overpriced for what they are. The range of motion is great but not as great as I would have hoped. Your everyday mesh gym shorts offer a bit more mobility if you ask me (I find the material on these prAnas is a bit rigid for this purpose). Definitely not a bad pair of shorts though and I love the look. I get the feeling that they will last forever as well judging from the high quality material and stitching. Definitely built to last.

Comfy and Light

typically use these shorts for climbing, yoga, and running.

very comfortable, breathable and light material that make it great for any type of aerobic exercise. also great to lounge around in.

high quality fabric, great stitching, two hand pockets and one back pocket. nice strong elastic waist belt keeps a snug but comfortable fit.

only dislike/complaint would be no front zipper or opening (even though there is a piece of fabric that makes it seem like there is a front zipper)

overall, great pants, well worth the money! :)

Negative Reviews:

Run small

Bought these for my son to replace ones from several years ago, that were a small and they fit great. The new ones were too tight and didn't fit right. When looking at the label they were made in the USA before and now are made outside of the country. We had to return them. Very disappointed.
Mom at Eastern Mountain Sports (EMS) on 01/01/2013

Long shorts

These shorts come to the middle of my knees which I find a bit too long for shorts. Also, the color is weird.
Ted at Eastern Mountain Sports (EMS) on 06/06/2009

Not What I was Expecting

Bought these to workout in and they just aren't comfortable. No freedom to move... too tight in the thigh area.
Al the Kayaker at Campmor on 04/04/2011

Mine ripped after not too long. Before the seam came unseamed I loved them.

Neutral Reviews:

I have had a couple of pairs of these shorts and I've always been comfortable in them. The elastic waist band feels great under a harness and the lightweight material keeps you cool.
Despite that, there are a few places where these could be better. Wearing the size small, when I sit down often as not the mesh pocket extends below the shorts which looks a bit funny. The lightweight material feels nice, but is very prone to ripping. I'm also not crazy about the cut. For bouldering these are great but with a harness on there is a bit of extra material around the hips which gets in the way of my gear loops.
Like I said, I still wear these frequently but mostly for bouldering in the gym or on lazy afternoons. If I am climbing with a harness I will leave these at home.

matty at Backcountry.com on 09/08/2013

So-so for Mojo

I thought the elastic band at the top felt a bit odd to wear and a little snug, sort of like the band from compression shorts sewn to regular shorts. Perhaps there is some benefit to this in a climbing harness, but otherwise the design and material is comparable to other sport shorts that typically cost less or to travel shorts that have more features.
Kevin at Eastern Mountain Sports (EMS) on 08/08/2007

i swear im a 32 waist, i swear it. ha. but seriously i usually go for medium in shorts and I found these to be restricting in that size, the large ended up a much better fit for my frame. I am 6' 1 180. very lite and attractive. but elastic waist band is coming apart and piling much after a couple washes,

zachopp at Backcountry.com on 06/02/2013

Zero stretch

Comfortable fabric and spacious pockets make them decent shorts in general, but the lack of any stretchiness (combined with the length) makes them restrictive for yoga, which was what I bought them for. Should have expected that I guess.

I would not recommend them for yoga. Mowing the lawn? Sure.
B2Kel at REI on 12/12/2013
I don't know how these are considered good shorts for yoga or climbing as they have no stretch in the fabric. It was very difficult to move the legs in basic yoga positions. The shorts are also very plain and have an old man look.

nice but doesn't fit

Tight for people with thick thighs. Large size was too baggy and down past my knees.
