Prana Stretch Zion Convertible Reviews:

Reviews:

I like Prana, they generally make a very functional and comfortable product. However, I was a little disappointed in these. I'll start with the pro's.
As shorts these are awesome, I love 'em. They fit great (I'm usually a 32-33 waist and the Mediums fit great), have a great length and tons of pockets and features. As pants, they are mighty sharp looking!
The cons are they feel a little stiff and aren't as soft as I've come to expect from Prana garments. The other big complaint is the construction seems kinda shotty on these. Lots of loose threads as well as extra material left untrimmed concerning the zippers which I had to go in and shave down with my pocket knife 3 miles into a hike because the plastic coating around the zippers was scratching into my legs.
I'm not sure if I just got the bad banana in the bunch so I still gave them 4 stars. I hoped for better though.

Had a chance to work these pants out this past weekend on a three-day backpacking trip in the Sawtooth mountains of Idaho. The pants are very comfortable, with ample pockets and flexibility. I had no trouble converting to shorts or pants, but needed to be sitting to do so. The only issue I had was when walking through some bushes near a stream, the fabric snagged on my thigh, so now I have a pretty large run right in front. I was hoping to get many miles out of these pants, but will have to find some tougher fabric when backpacking in the rough. They are great for general, all-around hiking, though!

Perfect on all fronts!

These are perfect! They're very stretchy & light -- 97% nylon, 3% spandex. Nice deep pockets. Water just runs right off of them like they're laminated! Built in belt but still have loops. Cargo pockets have top and side zips. A lot of hiking pants seem to be baggy--these are not, the fit is typical to a lot of jeans you might wear. Also, a lot of convertible pants seem to make the shorts super short and when you sit down you blind everyone with your shiny white thighs--these go down to just below me knees!

I'm 5'7" 150ish lbs. and a Small/Regular (32") fits perfectly.

These are great for everything. Between these and the non-convertible version I find myself wearing these 4-5 days a week, they're so comfortable. They look great and extremely versatile. I wear these hiking and rock scrambling and they work really well due the stretchable nature of the fabric. Additionally, they're extremely breathable. They come with a water resistant finish that will eventually wear off after multiple washings, however they dry extremely fast. I went backpacking in Europe last summer with them and was doing laundry in the sink of our hostels/ motels and after ringing them out they'd be dry the next morning.

The Do Everything Pants

Love these pants for just about everything I do. Climbed in them all the time then took them straight away onto the Appalachian trail for my thru hike (currently 1,100 miles in). They are a joy to climb in and love the stretch material when hiking as well. Perfect for the weather when it was a bit cooler but the June temps make them slightly too warm for most days even when the pants are zipped off. Don't dry quite as fast as some other lighter weight nylons out there but repel liquids nicely and still dry pretty fast

I just wore these yesterday, making several unexpected river crossings that were thigh high. It was hot, and there were cedar gnats. I love these pants because they did not get heavy with water from the river--most of the water beaded off, but the pants are so light that I stayed cool and was protected from the pesky gnats. I roll mine up, but the zip off pant legs are great because they don't end up being too short so you're still protected. A great buy.

I have these in both the roll up and zip-off versions. Hands down, both are my favorite pants for climbing, backpacking, or just general outdoor-wear. They are nice and stretchy but also durable. I'm 5'8" and the legs zip off just below the knee in the size L. They are true to size in the size chart (I have a 34in. waist and the L fits like a glove)
Do yourself a favor and buy these!

I love the fit, color, feel and bit of stretch in these pants. I like to use zip off pants for spring adventures. I have found a great pair here. I tried six other on and these stood out. And a bonus is my wife likes the way they look on me. I have never owned a Prana product but these seem very well built and designed.

Very comfortable.

I only have one hike under my belt with these pants but I have to give them a big thumbs up. They were true to size and fit very comfortably. The hike was in Reno, Nevada and started off around 45 degree and ended up around 70 but I was very comfortable the entire time. I have nothing negative to say about them at all.

I don't usually like zip off pants but these are really cool. They are made of the stretch Zion material that is soft, durable, and stretchy. When they are zipped off they are a really nice.
